Team Summary: Visa Consulting & Analytics (VCA) Australia, New Zealand and South Pacific (AUNZSP) is Visa's consulting division, working with Visa's clients (including card issuers, acquirers, and merchants) on a broad range of key business initiatives including strategy, proposition development, customer loyalty, operational optimisation, technology implementation and overall business profitability. VCA is made up of three services lines - Advisory, Data Science and Managed Services. The Data Science team is comprised of dedicated data scientists, analysts, and engineers who create solutions that empower our clients through leveraging one of the largest datasets in the world, VisaNet. What a Data Analytics Consulting Manager does at Visa: To support our growing team, we are looking for a Data Analytics Consulting Manager who is passionate about the opportunity to use Visa’s rich data to tackle meaningful business problems, take a hands-on approach and manage data projects. The day-to-day detail:

  • Data contact person with clients to understand their needs and translate client problems into actionable data analytics solutions
  • Comfortable being onboarded into one or more client environments. This will include exploring client data infrastructure and systems, performing analysis and generating insights to support business initiatives
  • Hands-on delivery of high-quality data analytics projects, ensuring technical proficiency and attention to detail
  • Manage and work with offshore teams (data analysts, data scientists & data engineers) and juggling resources across multiple time zones to ensure successful project delivery
  • Producing written communication, visualisations and presentations for senior stakeholders
  • Confidently communicate with clients and stakeholders, providing insights and recommendations based on data analysis
  • Partner with wider Visa stakeholders, for example but not limited to, Account Executives, Consultants, Product, Hub teams
  • Maintaining monthly/quarterly data subscription reports for clients
  • Experience in AI/ML would be a plus, but not a requirement
The position is based in Visa's Auckland office, with the expectation that there will be a significant proportion of time spent at client premises. This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.
  • Problem Solving : Applying creative problem-solving techniques and championing a client-first approach to data insights when opportunities and challenges arise to meet specific business objectives. Motivated by delivery, a high attention to detail and independently investigate issues
  • Technical Proficiency: Experience in writing and optimising queries in SQL, Hive, Python and Spark. Experience in dashboard development using Tableau or Power BI would be a plus.
  • High-Impact Communication : Clearly and succinctly be able to convey information and ideas to individuals and groups in a variety of situations (written, presentations and verbal). Having the ability to effectively communicate a story through data. To enable this, you must be proficient in PowerPoint.
  • Active Contributor to Team Success : Actively participating as a member of a team to move the team toward the completion of goals. Makes suggestions for achieving team goals or performing team functions, provides necessary assistance to remove obstacles to help the team accomplish its goals
  • Business Translator: Be passionate about translating challenges into well-defined insights, showcasing the impacts and providing recommendations.
  • Build Strategic Work Relationships: Building relationships across product teams, front line, as well as other stakeholders to understand the processes, the data and opportunities. Be able to have productive and positive prirotisation conversations. You will have good interpersonal relationships skills to enable people to feel valued, appreciated, and included in discussions.
What will also help:
  • Bachelors/Degree or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years related work experience in Data Analytics with proven tenure
  • Adept at data crunching, and passionate about unearthing significant patterns and meaningful insights.
  • Good understanding of Agile way of working
  • Understanding of the Payments and Banking Industry including aspects such as consumer credit, consumer debit, prepaid, small business, commercial and merchant will be a plus
