The candidate should have significant experience working on SaaS platforms, possess a strong technical background, well-versed in Agile methodologies and have a proven ability to deliver high-quality software in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. This role will also oversee and optimise the product release cycle, ensuring timely and seamless product deliveries. The role reports to Head of Platform Engineering. - Lead, mentor, and grow a team of engineers to deliver high-performing, scalable, and reliable software solutions.
- Collaborate with Engineering Managers to ensure timely execution of the product roadmap and alignment with business/ customer objectives.
- Partner with Implementation Managers to ensure smooth integration of the platform into client environments and alignment with customer needs.
- Own and manage the product release cycle, ensuring all features, fixes, and updates are delivered on time and with high quality.
- Implement and optimize Agile processes and frameworks to improve team efficiency and collaboration.
- Collaborate closely with Product, Engineering and Implementation Managers, Architects and other stakeholders to define technical requirements and deliverables.
- Develop and enforce release management best practices, including version control, testing, and deployment strategies.
- Provide hands-on technical guidance and participate in code reviews, architectural discussions, and problem-solving.
- Foster a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and accountability.
- Proactively identify and address technical debt, scalability challenges, and performance bottlenecks.
- Contribute to hiring and onboarding processes to build a world-class engineering team.
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 10+ years of software development experience with at least 2 years in an engineering management role.
- Proven experience working on SaaS platforms, with a deep understanding of cloud-based architecture and services.
- Expertise in Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and experience driving Agile transformations.
- Strong experience in release management, including planning, coordination, and execution of product releases.
- Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Engineering, Product and Implementation Managers.
- Solid technical foundation in software development, with experience in one or more of the following: Java, Python, or similar languages.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and microservices architecture.
- Experience in scaling SaaS platforms or enterprise-grade applications.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience in the Insurtech or Fintech domain.
- Knowledge of policy administration systems or insurance industry workflows.
- Certification in Agile practices (e.g., Certified ScrumMaster, SAFe Agile Certification).
