Basic Functions The Primary Nurse provides individualized nursing care, according to treatment plans, to best meet patient needs. Duties include but are not limited to: administering medications, monitoring patients for effects of treatment, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, providing screening and observations, recording patient observations and therapeutic interventions. The Primary Nurse works as part of the multidisciplinary team to deliver evidence-based, primary nursing services at the highest level of professional and quality standards. Supports the mission and vision of Naufar and Nursing Services Department. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Provide nursing care services according to instructions from the Nurse-in-charge of the shift, including following up on treatment plans, to best meet patients' needs.
- Prepare rooms for new admissions to properly welcome patients.
- Clean and assist in preparing medical equipment/areas according to clinical standards.
- Greet newly admitted patients upon admission and escort them to their rooms to deliver a high level of hospitality.
- Take notes about the care services being provided and the patients' responses to the care, to provide feedback to the Nursing Supervisor for appropriate service improvement decisions.
- Treat all patients fairly to ensure their satisfaction with the level of service provided.
- Provide all nursing care in privacy and knock before entering the patients' rooms to ensure their comfort.
- Safeguard the confidentiality of all patients' care information.
- Provide emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients and their families to establish a compassionate environment.
- Give appropriate notice to patients before their room and/or roommate (where applicable) is changed to ensure their satisfaction.
- Maintain work areas in a clean, safe, and sanitary condition to ensure high levels of quality and hospitality standards.
- Relay information to patients and their families from the Clinical Team to answer their questions and concerns.
- Maintain a safe and therapeutic environment by monitoring and reporting the status of the physical environment and supporting a positive therapeutic milieu.
- Bachelor's Degree of Science in Nursing.
- 3 years of experience in Nursing, including 1 year of experience in mental health or addiction.
- Valid Primary license from the country of origin.
- Eligible for a license from the Licensing authority in the State of Qatar to practice Healthcare Profession.
- Strong command of English and Arabic.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications.
