Thank you for considering Smit Lamnalco as your potential employer in the marine services industry! Job Description Our Middle East office has an opening in Doha, Qatar for a SHEQ Officer . The purpose of this position is to ensure compliance with the Companies Integrated Management System (SLIMS), SHEQ standards, and related legislation at the assigned contracts. In addition, to continuously improve SLIMS implementation and increase the SHEQ culture across all contracts and levels. Reporting to the Contract Manager. Responsibilities will include:
- Ensure SLIMS implementation at Contract level.
- Conduct Internal SLIMS audits based on ISM, ISPS, ISO 9001/14001, and OHSAS 18001 standards.
- Assist in the execution of corrective or preventative actions on contract level.
- Conduct SLIMS familiarization and Shore training.
- Monitor SLIMS Crew training programmes / e-learning.
- Deliver HSE related training onboard vessels (by regular weekly visits).
- Identify and recommend areas for improvement.
- Promote safe practices through Group campaigns, competitions, and incentives.
- Communicate / coordinate HSE matters through safety and toolbox meetings, and safety alerts.
- Ensure emergency preparedness by conducting shipboard drills and debriefings.
- Liaise with client on frequent basis in a professional and effective manner on all safety related matters.
- Minimum of 2 - 3 years experience as a Contract Safety Officer with a towage, or offshore service provider.
- Valid STCW Certificate of Competency as a Deck Officer, ideally Second Officer or Chief Officer.
- Nebosh Certificate is essential and experience with ISO 9001/14001 and OHSAS 18001 standards would be an advantage.
- Experience with behavioural safety programmes.
- Team player with a collaborative approach and able to engage and partner at all organizational levels.
- Strong analytical, numerical skills and proficient in all MS Office applications.
- Builder, self-starter and energetic person.
- Excellent communicator and bridge-builder, able to set and maintain high standards.
- Fluent in English (verbally and in written) is a must and Arabic is an advantage.
