Position Summary : The Backup Administrator in Allianz Technology Malaysia, Regional Delivery Center (RDC) is responsible for the design, implementation, and management of data backup and recovery solutions. This role involves monitoring backup systems, ensuring data integrity, and developing strategies to protect critical data. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills, a thorough understanding of backup technologies, and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic environment. Key Responsibilities

  1. Backup System Management: Design, implement, and manage data backup and recovery solutions to ensure data protection and availability.
  2. Monitoring and Maintenance: Monitor backup systems to ensure successful data backups and address any failures or issues promptly.
  3. Data Recovery: Develop and execute data recovery strategies to ensure quick restoration of data in case of loss or corruption.
  4. Performance Optimization: Optimize backup processes and systems to improve efficiency and reduce backup windows.
  5. Security Management: Implement security measures to protect backup data from unauthorized access and ensure compliance with organizational policies.
  6. Documentation: Maintain accurate documentation of backup configurations, processes, and recovery procedures.
  7. Collaboration: Work closely with IT teams, system administrators, and application owners to ensure that backup solutions meet business requirements and service level agreements (SLAs).
  8. Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance backup and recovery processes, incorporating new technologies and best practices.
  9. Cloud Management: Deploy, manage, and monitor cloud-based infrastructure. Implement and manage cloud security measures to protect data and systems.
  10. Automation: Develop and implement automation scripts and tools to improve system efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
  11. Global Collaboration: Work with global teams to manage and deliver globally managed services. Coordinate with global teams to ensure alignment and consistency in service delivery.
  12. Any other duties when deemed necessary. Completing projects on various issues when needed.
Key Requirements/Skills/Experiences
  1. Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
  2. Proven experience in backup administration, system administration, or a related role.
  3. Strong understanding of backup and recovery technologies and solutions (e.g., Commvault, Veritas NetBackup, Veeam, Acronis).
  4. Experience with data storage systems and technologies.
  5. Familiarity with cloud-based backup solutions and platforms.
  6. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  7. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  8. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  9. Certifications in backup technologies or related areas (e.g., Commvault, Veritas Certified Specialist, Veeam Certified Engineer) are a plus.
  10. This role may require on-call availability and working outside regular hours to resolve critical issues or perform scheduled maintenance.
  11. The position may involve collaboration with remote teams and vendors to ensure effective backup and recovery support.
