About the role

As the EHS Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and administering all aspects of the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) department. Your key responsibilities include analyzing, planning, developing, implementing, and executing policies to achieve the company’s and department’s goals and objectives; fostering the career growth and development of your subordinates; planning, developing, implementing, and executing company activities related to Quality Management Systems (QMS), safety, health, and other relevant areas; and planning, organizing, coordinating, and delegating tasks to respective subordinates to ensure efficient workflow and productivity.

EHS MANAGEMENT

  • Support site in terms of EHS consultation, theoretical & practical.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant authorities by developing and implementing EHS programs, policies, and management systems.
  • Ensure the HE/HP of RSA findings and ISO14001 and ISO45001 are rectified, closed, and effective at site.
  • Communicate health and safety information to the organization as appropriate.
  • Compile the EHS monthly KPI, EHS monitoring, waste management, JACOBS, monthly report, gap outstanding, and Carbon Foot Print.

Key responsibilities

  • Interpret standards, advise management on needed actions, enforce adherence to Malaysia EHS regulation (e.g., OSHA and EQA) and Kerry corporate standards (RSA & Kerry Global).
  • Execute the EHS yearly action plan and evaluate its effectiveness.
  • Coordinate the SHC meeting on a monthly basis, advise the Green Team Committee, and participate in any meeting related to site job tasks.
  • Initiate and participate in site & EHS continuous improvement activities as necessary.
  • Manage EHS related audits and support plant audits.
  • Protect safety through the continuous improvement of safety standards.
  • Continually reduce the impact on the environment through the reduction of resource (energies, water, etc.) use and the reduction of waste generation (food, components).
  • Propose & verify internal EHS purchases.
  • Perform any task assigned by the superior from time to time.
  • Certified OYK (Orang Yang Kompeten, i.e., Safety Coordinator or Safety Officer) competent person.
  • Establish and communicate L.I.F.E saving rules program.

EMPLOYEE DEVELOPMENT

  • Support and guide EHS Officer & EHS Assistant Officer monthly activities and inspections, reports & compliance.
  • Manage Training & Development plan for EHS.
  • Manage Induction Programme.
  • EHS Training: Ensure that the standards are trained off the highest level for all.
  • Implement auditing protocols to verify training adequacy and highlight areas for improvement.
  • Empower the EHS support team (EHS Committee, ERT & Green Team, and ISO Committee).

EMPLOYEE COMMUNICATION & ENGAGEMENT

  • Communicate EHS information to management, staff, or relevant parties.
  • Initiate and organize the EHS awareness program for the site.
  • Establish EHS initiatives & projects to increase the EHS implementation level.
  • Establish EHS communication for EHS KPI's, Accident Alerts, EHS information & sharing.

EHS COMPLIANCE

  • Ensure compliance with all statutory EHS requirements.
  • Manage the RSA compliance for the site.
  • Manage EHS compliance of SEDEX & other requirements.

EHS INITIATIVES

  • Plan and initiate the annual EHS program for the site.
  • Encourage site staff to engage with site EHS initiatives program.

ISO 45001 & ISO 14001

  • Manage, coordinate & ensure the implementation of ISO 45001 Management System throughout the plant.
  • Manage, coordinate & ensure the implementation of ISO 14001 Management System throughout the plant.

SUPPORT EHS FUNCTIONAL

  • Support EHS regional & SEA functional in developing & establishing EHS Management System.
  • Assist EHS regional & SEA functional in developing & establishing EHS improvement program & best practices.

SCHEDULE WASTE MANAGEMENT

  • Ensure waste management schemes are implemented effectively and legal requirements are upheld.
  • Use national waste strategy and policy to inform plans for waste collection, disposal, minimization, and recycling.
  • Develop contaminated and hazardous waste disposal procedures.

Qualifications and skills

  • Essential: Minimum Degree / Master in Occupational Safety & Health or Degree in any Engineering Discipline or equivalent.
  • Desirable: Solid presentation and training skills.
  • An excellent communicator (both oral and written) capable of conveying ideas and concepts, and making formal presentations.

Technical:

  • Essential: Possess strong organizational and technical skills, a real passion for their work, and driven to get the job done.
  • Desirable: Experience with compliance audits and safety management systems.
  • Must possess exceptional interpersonal skills, be a proven team player, and have a history of working effectively in a team environment.

Behavioral:

  • Essential: Excellent motivational skills, able to influence others at all organizational levels.
  • Desirable: Ability to work independently with little need for close management supervision and direction.
