Job Purpose: Reporting Accountant

Duties & Responsibilities

• Ensure all group reporting is completed accurately and within stipulated timelines
• Work with business in terms of forecasting and budget
• Liaise with finance team to ensure all queries resolved prior to GL close off
• Liaise with clients to ensure reports are produced timeously and accurately
• Assist Finance Executive to compile annual financial statements
• Ensure fixed asset register is accurately and timeously completed
• Ensure timeous and accurate completion of board packs
• Continuous focus on customer centricity (Treating Customers Fairly)
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives within Abacus
• Ensure stakeholder and relationship management
• Human Resource Management
• Effective self-management and teamwork

Desired Experience & Qualification

• Matric
• B.Comm (Accounting) plus articles served with a minimum of 5 years reporting experience or recently qualified CA
• Excellent knowledge of accounting software (eg SAP)
• Excellent knowledge of excel at an advanced level and financial modelling
• Excellent knowledge of budget and forecast models
• Working knowledge of IFRS, VAT and Tax
• Competent in IFRS reporting
• Competent in compiling annual financial statements
• Understanding of Life and non-life insurance
• Consolidation experience at a Group level
• Business acumen
