Our client, an export trading business, is looking to hire a Financial Manager , based in Durban . Duties and Responsibilities : Financial Strategy and Planning:- Develop and implement the organization's financial strategy and long-term financial planning.
- Provide financial insights and guidance to the executive team and the board of directors.
- Assess the financial health of the organization and recommend actions for improvement.
- Develop and implement financial strategies to support the company's objectives.
- Oversee the preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulations.
- Provide accurate and timely financial reports to internal and external stakeholders.
- Manage the budgeting process, working with department heads to set financial targets and monitor performance against budgets.
- Create financial forecasts and scenarios to support decision-making and resource allocation.
- Monitor and manage cash flow to ensure the organization's liquidity needs are met.
- Identify and assess financial risks, such as market volatility, credit risk, and operational risk.
- Develop and implement risk management strategies to protect the organization from financial threats.
- Evaluate investment opportunities and capital allocation decisions.
- Optimize the organization's capital structure and manage debt and equity financing.
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations and minimize tax liabilities.
- Work with tax professionals to develop tax-efficient strategies.
- Establish and maintain strong internal financial controls to safeguard the organization's assets.
- Develop and enforce financial policies and procedures.
- Conduct financial analysis, including cost-benefit analysis and financial modelling, to support strategic decision-making.
- Collaborate with external stakeholders, such as auditors, regulators, investors, and financial institutions.
- Build and maintain relationships with key financial partners.
- Manage and mentor the finance team.
- Provide leadership and direction to the finance department.
- Ensure compliance with all financial and legal requirements, including regulatory filings and reporting.
- Implement and oversee financial management systems and technology to improve efficiency and accuracy in financial operations.
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field (Master's degree or professional certification is a plus).
- Proven experience in financial management, preferably in an export or international trade environment.
- Strong understanding of international trade and foreign exchange.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good experience in managing a finance team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of the Syspro accounting package is essential.
- Ability to make tough decisions.
- Quick to understand new concepts.
- Able to think outside the box.
