When you work in Hawaii, in addition to learning about the functional aspects of running a hotel — like the proper way to make a bed or how to best handle luggage — it’s critically important to understand Hawaiian culture and the spirit of ‘ohana, or ‘family.’ When opening the first Andaz property in Hawaii, our team participated in Hawaiian culture training to help us understand what ‘ohana truly means.

Duties and Responsibilities of the Door Host:

1. Warmly welcome guests upon arrival, offering a friendly and hospitable greeting.
2. Open doors for guests as they enter and exit the building, providing a courteous and seamless experience.
3. Maintain clear communication with front desk staff, bellhops, and other team members to ensure a smooth guest experience.
4. Assist in managing vehicular and pedestrian traffic at the entrance to ensure safety and order.
5. Regularly inspect the entrance area to ensure it is clean, presentable, and free of hazards.

Qualifications

1. Ideally with a relevant degree or diploma in Hospitality or Tourism management.
2. Minimum 2 years work experience in hotel operations.
3. Good customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills are a must.
