Food Compliance Technologist

This is a newly created role to support the continued development of a growing Technical department of a leading food manufacturing company. Reporting into a dynamic and progressive Technical Manager, this is a fantastic opportunity to utilise your Technical compliance and quality systems knowledge in a business that can offer realistic progression opportunities. Ultimately, this role looks after Technical compliance to food safety, legal requirements and quality standards by ensuring successful management of specifications and suppliers, and supporting internal compliance processes. You will be responsible for:
- Maintaining and improving Food Safety and Quality standards and the requirements of any accreditation (BRCGS), legislative and customer requirements.
- Work in compliance with the company quality policy and supporting the HSE, food safety and quality culture.
- Work in line with the policies and practices within the QMS.
- Champion a culture of food safety and quality throughout the business.
- End to end management of customer complaints, including recording, facilitating investigation, closure and trending.
- Manage and maintain raw material and finished product specifications.
- Support the artwork process
- Support Non Conformance Reporting and Damaged Material Reporting processes, ensuring root cause analysis and corrective actions.
- Support administrative activities such as sampling, calibration, consumable monitoring and restocking.
- Take a lead role in solving quality issues, continuous improvement programmes and other quality/food safety projects.
- Participate in external and third party audits.
- Creating monthly technical communication to be shared internally.
- A minimum of 3 years' experience in Food/Drink Manufacturing, Fresh Produce or a related industry.
- Minimum of HACCP Level 2.
- Awareness of food safety regulations, BRCGS requirements and best practices.
- A good communicator with strong verbal and written skills.
- Strong eye for detail and accuracy.
- Comfortable working both autonomously as as part of a team.
- The confidence to challenge the status quo.
- A problem solving mentality.
- Audit trained (Internal or Lead Auditor) - Desirable
- To be managed and mentored by a fantastic Technical Manager who can balance Technical capability and detail with excellent communication skills. You will undoubtedly progress under their mentorship.
