Group Website : Travelex Group Role Purpose VP of Cloud Platform Engineering will lead the cloud platform strategy, operations and engineering for Travelex globally. You will be responsible for designing and executing the cloud strategy, ensuring the security, performance, and scalability of the cloud platform (IaaS and PaaS). This senior leadership role requires managing teams across geographies, fostering a culture of innovation, and driving the adoption of cloud best practices. Reporting into the CTO organisation, you will be instrumental in shaping Travelex’s cloud roadmap. You will also be a member of the GCC management team, a senior leadership team that looks after the identity and drives professionalization of Travelex Global Capability Centre in India. Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development, execution, and optimization of Travelex’s cloud strategy, aligning with business goals.
• Oversee the global cloud infrastructure, ensuring 24/7 availability, performance, and security.
• Drive cloud adoption initiatives, transitioning legacy systems to modern cloud native platforms.
• Ensure compliance with industry security standards and manage risk in cloud environments.
• Lead the automation of cloud operations through Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation), DevOps methodologies and SRE. Automate everything and continuously learn and improve (PDAC)
• Build, mentor, and manage a high-performing global cloud team, fostering a collaborative and innovative culture.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver cloud solutions that support business agility and scalability.
• Manage relationships with external vendors and partners, ensuring service delivery and innovation.
• Establish and monitor cloud KPIs, ensuring continuous improvement and cost optimization (FINOPS)
• Chair the CCoE with tech, finance, and business participation.
• Stay ahead of industry trends and emerging technologies, positioning Travelex as a leader in cloud innovation.

Skills & Experience: Required:

• Cloud Infrastructure Leadership : 15+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure and operations, with at least 5 years in a leadership role. Strong background in managing cloud environments across AWS, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), or Microsoft Azure.
• DevOps & Cross-Functional Collaboration : Strong experience in DevOps methodologies, collaborating effectively with engineering teams, and building reusable IaC templates to support self-service and platform utilization.
• Cloud Migration & Optimization : Proven experience in managing large-scale cloud migrations and optimizing cloud environments to maximize performance and cost-efficiency.
• Cloud Security & Compliance : Deep understanding of cloud security frameworks, encryption, and compliance standards (e.g., GDPR, PCI DSS, SOC 2). Knowledge of security practices like AK/SK rotation, IAM, and access control mechanisms is desired.
• Cost Management : Solid experience in managing cloud costs, implementing best practices for instance right-sizing, using reservation models, and optimizing resource allocation across AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Leadership & Communication : Strong leadership skills with a proven track record in managing globally distributed teams. Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders effectively.
• Disaster Recovery & Automation : Familiarity with cloud disaster recovery processes, including automating recovery workflows using orchestration tools to minimize downtime and human error.
• Cloud Services Expertise : knowledge of core services across AWS (e.g., EC2, S3, Lambda, VPC, RDS, ECS, EKS, API Gateway), GCP (e.g., Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, Cloud Functions, VPC, Cloud SQL), or Azure (e.g., Virtual Machines, Blob Storage, Functions, Virtual Network, SQL Database). Familiarity with cloud networking and security practices (e.g., VPC, Security Groups, IAM, WAF, Shield) is preferred.
• Infrastructure as Code & Automation : Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, and automation platforms like Ansible, Jenkins, and CircleCI, enabling streamlined deployments and operational efficiency.

Good to Have:

• Cloud Certifications : Relevant certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect, or Azure Solutions Architect Expert are a plus.
• Problem Solving & Technical Expertise : Strong analytical skills and the ability to solve complex technical challenges.
• Cloud Monitoring & Logging : Experience with cloud-native monitoring and logging tools like CloudWatch, Datadog, Grafana, Coralogix, Stackdriver, or Azure Monitor.
• Scripting & Version Control : Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell) and version control tools like GitHub or Bitbucket.
• Networking & Routing : Solid understanding of cloud networking concepts (e.g., VPC, subnets, internet gateways, NAT gateways, route tables, access control lists). Knowledge of cloud load balancers, CDNs, and global routing is a plus.
• Self-Service Infrastructure Templates : Ability to strategize and develop standard infrastructure templates to enable self-service capabilities for internal teams.
