The Educational Instructor will be required to conduct informative and fact-based animal presentations, both in park and on outreach programs while also promoting products and activities available to our guests. This position requires a high level of knowledge of the theme park information and products and the ability to deliver this information in a fun and exciting way. The Education Instructor will be required to develop an extensive knowledge of the UAE school curriculum requirements to conduct designed curriculum-based programming. This position requires standing for prolonged periods and the ability to move/lift up to 15kgs. This position also requires working varying shifts based on business needs, including opening, mid, and closing shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays. Job Scope:
- Coordinates a specialty area such as curriculum development, colleague training, science writing, video production, or graphic design.
- Creates new Education Department content (e.g., an interactive, student-centered learning experience on invertebrates and ocean literacy).
- Engages, motivates, and interacts with guests and students.
- Conducts Education Programs for special events and daily operations in collaboration with other departments.
- Conducts outreach programs and promotional targets with other departments and is the point of contact as a department representative at events.
- Conducts facility and Yas SeaWorld Research and Rescue Center tours, including VIPs and program evaluations.
- Prepares and maintains education program materials.
- Works closely with the Education Support Manager to deliver transformational zoological programming, ensuring offerings are relevant and compelling to today’s audiences in content and delivery.
- Operates independently with minimal supervision while providing excellent guest service and innovating new experiences.
- Initiates interaction with guests to proactively provide animal information and details about the facility.
- Monitors guest and animal safety in coordination with the Zoological animal team.
- Maintains cleanliness and organization of the workplace for designated areas.
- Maintains knowledge of the facility, updates, and promotions.
- Responds to guests' queries/complaints with effective resolution under Education Leadership guidance.
- Provides guidance to Education Specialists & Education Assistants in their duties.
- Completes all required training and maintains professional development and competencies.
- Fosters a culture of human and animal safety, following all safety policies and practices inclusive of PPE.
- Assists with all training of new colleagues as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in animal sciences, education, other natural sciences, or equivalent experience.
- 2 years of experience as an instructor or equivalent experience.
- Excellent skills in customer/guest interaction, including resolution of problems.
- Demonstrated applied knowledge of educational principles and instructional design models.
- Demonstrates strong verbal communication skills and enthusiastically shares a passion for the environment with guests.
- Demonstrates appropriate methods and strategies to take action in unstructured situations even in the absence of clear direction.
- Strong public speaker, with the ability to readily adjust to large crowds of guests.
- Proficient in current computer applications, including MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Fluency in English; excellent spoken and written skills.
