Chief Executive Officer - Horsham Rural City Council About Us Horsham Rural City Council is a vibrant municipality located approximately 300 kilometres north-west of Melbourne. The majority of its 19,880 residents are located in Horsham, a hub for health care, niche retail, education and schooling, community services, arts, sports and culture. The region is a significant producer of dryland, broad acre cereals and agriculture is one of the region’s main industries. There is an abundance of wide-open space, small populations and diverse natural assets, including recreational lakes, wetlands, the Wimmera River, Mount Arapiles and nearby Grampians National Park. About the Role A visionary CEO is sought to deliver best practice governance, set the strategic direction for the Council, promoting fiscal sustainability, innovation and productivity improvements. You will add value by strengthening existing networks within state and local government, the community and the private sector. From a leadership perspective, you will provide strategic clarity to a diverse team, enable through empowerment greater accountability and responsibility and develop throughout the organisation a sense of corporate purpose by establishing and communicating a shared vision across the organisation. As CEO, you will lead strategy development and drive performance whilst ensuring accountability to the community and key stakeholders. Framing the future and delivering innovative solutions and productivity gains whilst streamlining processes requires strong analytical and communication skills. Working in partnership with our new group of councillors, you will develop a suite of strategic documents that reflect the desires and aspirations of all sectors of our community. About You You will provide contemporary leadership with a balance of authenticity and exceptional people skills as you develop strong networks across the region including community, neighbouring councils and all levels of government. Your commercial mindset will be open to exploring all opportunities that could better the position of council and our ability to deliver on our ambitious community vision. As an experienced public sector leader, you will understand the value of transparency, governance and stakeholder engagement in the delivery of all projects and services.
