Civil Engineer - IDI Location: Riyadh, Ar Riyad, SA

1. Position

Civil Engineer – IDI Technical Control

1.2. Location/ Department

Onsite – IDI Department

1.3. Reporting to

IDI PM of the related KSA Region

1.4. Key Working Relationship

Interaction with Inspectors Team Leaders and IDI PM

2. MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

2.1. Specialty

Technical Control for Buildings Projects (Site Inspections + reviews)

2.2. Education Degree

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering

2.4. Technical knowledge

Structural Engineering and Building Envelope

2.5. Experience

≥ 5 Years

3. RESPONSIBILITIES / AUTHORITIES / ACCOUNTABILITIES

3.1. Primary Functions

Role and responsibilities:
  1. Perform assigned IDI site inspections as required.
  2. Prepare inspection reports within the same day of inspection.
  3. Coordinate with clients prior to inspections and attend inspections on time.
  4. Review projects relevant documents and prepare IDI reports as required.
  5. Review all issued reports to familiarize with actual project conditions prior to inspections.
  6. Review and correct site inspection reports as required.
  7. Perform any task assigned by N+1 within his competency limits.
Other
  1. Observe the HSSE policies and procedures at all times.
  2. Comply with the ethical policies and code of ethics.

3.2. AUTHORITIES

As per Bureau Veritas policies

3.3. Technical Expertise

Knowledge in construction site inspections:
  1. Conversant with codes and standards related to structures (soil and foundations, reinforced concrete, pre-stressed concrete, steel,...).
  2. Conversant with codes and standards related to buildings Envelope (i.e. Curtain Wall, Waterproofing, Façade stone cladding, etc…).
  3. Interpretation of results of inspections.
  4. Able to verify and decide about the status of Non-conformities/corrective actions.
  5. Good report writing skills.
  6. Fluent in English and Arabic.
  7. Computer Skills (Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Power Point).
  8. Knowledge of Engineering Software (Etabs, Safe, etc…).

3.4. Business Requirements

3.5. QHSSE Responsibilities

Implementing BV safety programs within the team.
  1. Comply at all times with all applicable legal requirements, BV HSE policies, procedures, and practices.
  2. Maintain personal work areas tidy and hazard-free and report any deviation/fault/hazard immediately to the location manager/line manager/HSE Representative.
  3. Report immediately to the HSE Representative any newly identified hazard and participate in devising suitable operational control to eliminate/minimize the pertinent risk.
  4. Report immediately to the HSE Representative any HSE incident and cooperate in investigating reporting all incidents and taking action whenever they see an unsafe act or condition.
  5. Take care of your own health and safety and that of people who may be affected by what you do (or do not do).
  6. Co-operate with others on health and safety, and not interfere with, or misuse, anything provided for your health, safety or welfare.
