Responsibilities

JOB PURPOSE The packaging machine operator's primary purpose is to run the packaging machine efficiently and effectively, achieving the production targets while increasing the machine efficiency. Gather hourly data of machines throughput, use packaging material efficiently, manage the packers working on his assigned tubes, and maintain good manufacturing practices at all times within his area. POSITION IN ORGANISATION Direct Manager: Production (Packaging) FLM Peers: Process Operator Subordinates: Packers (Assistant operators) PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
  1. Take actions as necessary to achieve the desired business results on bag makers (with or without reference to FLM).
  2. Ensure that the machine achieves the required efficiency set by the department.
  3. Achieve the material efficiency target set by the department.
  4. Achieve the grams giveaway target set by the department.
  5. Manage the packers working under his tubes (break time, cleaning during change of flavor, time in and time out).
  6. Maintain the machine in good condition by conducting the proper bag maker & Ishida machine maintenance checklist.
  7. Maintain the workplace & machine clean (GMP).
  8. Report all health hazards within his workplace to his immediate Direct Manager.
  9. Ensure that quality packets are produced at all times.
  10. Attend quality wall at least fifteen (15) times per month.
  11. Implement, sustain and participate in the continual improvement of the EHS Management System at the area of responsibility in accordance with the legislations, PepsiCo GEHSMS and relevant EHS standards.

JOB DIMENSIONS / CHALLENGES
  1. Varying product density
  2. Frequent plan changes
  3. Aging packaging equipment
  4. Balancing production requirements with that of food and occupational safety.
Qualifications EXPERIENCE / COMPETENCIES REQUIRED
  1. Industrial training institute graduate (ITI) or relevant tertiary qualification is highly preferred.
  2. Basic communication skills.
  3. Good working attitude.
  4. Minimum 1 year experience in Packaging Machine operation.
  5. Competencies: Analytical thinking, Drive for results, Intellectual Curiosity, Integrity, Developing others.
