SAE-25 Post-Doctoral Position for Optical Wavefront Simulations for Biophotonics applications Contract : Full Time/Fixed Term This position is part of a collaborative research programme at the Tyndall National Institute led by Professor Stefan Andersson-Engels, focusing on accelerating biophotonics technology for healthcare applications. The successful candidate will be part of a team aiming to develop accurate, less invasive diagnostic and treatment methods for cancer and other diseases. The role offers opportunities for learning and visibility in the field of biophotonics. Reporting to Stefan Andersson-Engels, the Researcher will conduct specified research, primarily involving modeling coherent light propagation in turbid media, algorithm development, and generating results for experimental verification and publication. Key responsibilities will include:- Conducting software development, simulations, data analysis, and publication preparations.
- Participating in developing future research initiatives.
- Supporting postgraduate research students in collaboration with academic supervisors.
- Working with industry and academic partners on research project proposals.
- Contributing to grant proposal writing for EU and other funding streams.
- Disseminating research results as directed.
- Engaging in the wider research and scholarly activities of the group.
- Performing administrative tasks to support the research programme.
- Assisting in financial management of research projects.
- Ensuring compliance with the Tyndall Quality Management system and Health and Safety standards.
- Carrying out additional duties as required.
- Ph.D. in Physics, Applied Physics, or Biomedical Engineering with a background in photonics.
- Understanding of Biophotonics and light propagation in turbid media.
- Strong theoretical skills in wave propagation simulations.
- Good communication, writing, organization, and interpersonal skills.
- Relevant research experience and technical competence.
- Self-motivated with a capability to work within a project team.
- Experience in biomedical optics is highly desired.
- Experience in grant proposal writing and research dissemination.
