Location: Middle East Contract: Permanent Salary: Competitive (DOE) We are currently recruiting for an Environmental and Sustainability Advisor to join our team based in the Middle East. Job Purpose Working as a team player within the group SHEQT function, you will manage onsite operations as well as the depots and locations deemed necessary by JGL. Ensuring SHEQT compliance is standardised throughout the business. Utilising effective communication, awareness training, consultation, inspections and implementing change where required to maintain the required standards. You will also provide support on all matters related to the groups SHEQ strategies, objectives, policies and procedures. Ensure legal compliance and best practice is adopted and managed on projects. You will also ensure that all contracts meet the contract expectations of our clients. This role is very people focused and hands-on. In addition, you will liaise with Clients, Designers and actively participate in pre-construction, operational and post-construction meetings. You will lead investigations to establish root cause across Environment and Sustainability areas, providing lessons learnt and opportunities for improvement. You will also be required to deliver bespoke training courses, mentoring for advisors and project team members, sharing knowledge and experiences.

- On/off site auditing of project and contractor activities to ensure that they are meeting the system requirements.
- Supporting the Group SHEQT Manager in establishing and maintaining the highest Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality standards.
- Conducting inspections and audits, ensuring compliance with legislation, client contractual requirements and internal Integrated Management System, and promptly raising any shortfalls with senior management.
- Managing site facilities including management of contractors and ensuring HSEQ standards are adhered to.
- Supporting project personnel as the ‘Competent’ person for Environment and H&S advice.
- Advising project management on all SHEQ, occupational health and welfare matters, and keeping them appraised on the success or otherwise of their measures; and advising management of possible alternative arrangements.
- Ensuring project teams follow the requirements of the clients’ procedures for delivering construction projects safely and therefore meeting the requirements of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations and related procedures.
- Ensuring that personnel are regularly and properly informed by maintaining a coordinated system of SHEQ communication.
- To own the development and delivery of the Environmental & Sustainability Action Plans working with Project teams and specialists across the organisation to drive initiatives across all business areas.
- To formulate an investment programme for reducing energy consumption and environmental pollution.
- To provide a consultancy service for project teams in JGL which gives advice and acts as assurance on achieving best environmental practice.
- To seek opportunities for external funding for sustainability initiatives.
- To lead on communications on Environmental & Sustainability activities.
- To promote environmental awareness across JGL and its agents.
- To promote JGL in the field of Environmental & Sustainability good practice.
- Provide responses on behalf of JGL to consultations and external policy reviews.
- Develop partnerships and relationships with relevant organisations.
- To work with consultants and partners, such as Local Authorities and recycling organisations, to develop energy and waste reduction programmes.

- Health & Safety Qualifications
- Work experience gained in construction, engineering, petrochemical or military sectors
- Excellent IT skills including administration knowledge in Word, Excel, PowerPoint and email
- Excellent communication and engagement skills
- Proven ability to foster strong, working relationships
- Able to manage their own time and direct personnel, ensuring deadlines are met
- Construction industry knowledge in the following sectors: Ground Mitigation, Contaminated Land, Waste Management, RC Framework, Drainage, Civil Works
- Lifting experience i.e. Cranes, Excavators
- Experience in working in multidiscipline teams
- Delivery of training courses internal and/or accredited
- Environmental legislation
- BOHS P405 Management of Asbestos in Building
- Health & Safety at Work Act 1974
- ISO 14001 & ISO 50001
- ESOS, SECR, GHG & Carbon processes and reporting
