Position Title: Applied AI/ML Engineer (Remote - India-Based for US Startup) Job Type: Full-Time Contract (MVP Development Phase: ~3 months, with potential for extension) Location: Remote (India-based; flexible to overlap with US Pacific Time) About Us: We are an early-stage US-based startup focused on building cutting-edge AI-powered solutions. Our mission is to revolutionize analytics with predictive models that empower decision-making and improve outcomes. We are looking for a skilled Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning Engineer to join our team and lead the development of a predictive analytics MVP. Key Responsibilities: 1. Data Ingestion and Preprocessing: • Design and implement pipelines to ingest data from EHRs (FHIR/HL7) using GCP Cloud Healthca API . • Develop automated workflows for data cleaning, transformation, and feature extraction using Dataflow or Python. 2. Feature Engineering: • Create reusable feature engineering pipelines for healthcare-specific datasets. • Utilize Vertex AI Feature Store to store and manage engineered features. 3. Model Development: • Build and evaluate predictive models using Vertex AI AutoML , TensorFlow, or PyTorch. • Optimize models for healthcare-specific metrics such as recall and precision. 4. Pipeline Automation: • Develop automated ML pipelines with Vertex AI Pipelines for training, evaluation, and hyperparameter optimization. • Implement logging and version control for all datasets and models. 5. Model Deployment and API Integration: • Deploy models to Vertex AI Endpoints for real-time predictions. • Create REST APIs using Flask or FastAPI to integrate predictions with external systems. 6. Monitoring and Maintenance: • Set up Vertex AI Model Monitoring to track data drift and performance degradation. • Automate re-training pipelines to incorporate new data and improve predictions. 7. Compliance and Security: • Ensure data handling complies with HIPAA regulations. • Implement secure data encryption, access controls, and audit logging. 8. Collaboration and Communication: • Work closely with the founder (based in the US) and ensure flexible availability for regular sync-ups during US Pacific Time. • Collaborate with other team members to integrate the platform with the business’s broader objectives. Required Skills and Qualifications: • Education: • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Machine Learning, or a related field. • Technical Skills: • Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services (Vertex AI, Dataflow, BigQuery, Cloud Healthcare API). • Strong proficiency in Python and libraries like Pandas, NumPy, and scikit-learn. • Expertise in machine learning frameworks like TensorFlow or PyTorch. • Experience with building end-to-end ML pipelines for real-world applications. • Ability to build and expose REST APIs using frameworks like Flask or FastAPI. • Healthcare Domain Expertise: • Familiarity with healthcare data formats (FHIR/HL7/DICOM). • Basic understanding of healthcare workflows and compliance standards like HIPAA. • Soft Skills: • Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities. • Strong communication skills to effectively work in a remote, cross-cultural setup. • Self-starter with the ability to manage tasks independently. Preferred Qualifications: • Experience with Explainable AI (XAI) for healthcare applications. • Understanding of front-end development for dashboards (e.g., React, Firebase). • Prior experience working with startups or in a remote environment. Working Hours: • Core hours to overlap with US Pacific Time for daily/weekly sync-ups. • Flexibility to adjust to the dynamic needs of a startup environment.
