Light Commercial Vehicle Service Advisor

1. Advises customers regarding necessary service for routine maintenance.
2. Capable of initial diagnosis by questioning the customer or carrying out a visual inspection or road test.
3. Confers with customers regarding inspection results, recommends corrective procedures, and prepares work orders for required repairs.
4. Writes a brief description of the customer's concern about the repair order to help the technician locate the problem.
5. Explains the work performed and the repair order charges to the customer.
6. Greets customers in a timely, friendly manner and obtains vehicle information.
7. Refers to service history, inspects vehicle, and recommends additional service.
8. Provides a complete and accurate written cost estimate for labour and parts.
9. Checks on the progress of repair throughout the day. Contacts customers regarding any changes in the estimate or promised time, explains cost and time requirements in detail, and obtains proper authorization before any additional repairs are performed.
10. Reviews repair orders to ensure that work is completed and that additional work and authorization are noted. Closes repair orders as appropriate.
11. Maintains high customer satisfaction standards.
12. Handles telephone inquiries regarding appointments and work in process.
13. Inspects all vehicles for bodywork, informs the customer if work is needed, and provides an estimate for bodywork.
14. Four years of previous experience on mainly light vehicles & vans, but commercial vehicle experience is an advantage.
15. Maintains a professional appearance.
16. Other tasks as assigned.
