Curriculum Specialist Role Overview The Curriculum Specialist will lead the development and implementation of an American curriculum tailored to meet the unique needs of preschool students in Kuwait. The role requires cultural sensitivity and accommodations for students who speak English as a second language. Key Responsibilities:
Curriculum Development and Implementation
- Design and adapt an American curriculum to align with the cultural context of Kuwait and the needs of second-language English learners.
- Ensure curriculum pacing is appropriate to the developmental levels of preschool students.
- Develop and maintain curriculum resources and teaching materials for Pre-K to KG2.
Teacher Mentoring and Leadership
- Provide ongoing mentoring and coaching for teachers, academic coordinators, and learning specialists.
- Support teachers in implementing effective teaching practices and adapting strategies for diverse learners.
- Promote leadership and collaboration within the academic team to ensure high-quality instruction.
Professional Development
- Plan and conduct professional development (PD) sessions for teachers and academic staff.
- Focus on early years education, cultural sensitivity, and English as a second language teaching strategies.
- Stay updated with the latest trends and research in early childhood education and incorporate them into PD initiatives.
Collaboration and Team Management
- Supervise and guide a team consisting of academic coordinators, learning specialists, and a curriculum coordinator.
- Foster collaboration within the team to achieve academic goals and ensure consistency across preschool branches.
Resource Development
- Identify and create resources tailored to Pre-K to KG2 learning objectives.
- Ensure that learning materials are engaging, culturally relevant, and developmentally appropriate.
Monitoring and Evaluation
- Develop systems to assess and monitor curriculum implementation and student progress.
- Use data-driven insights to refine curriculum and teaching practices.
