RPS is seeking applications for the position of Lead MEICA Engineer. We are seeking an experienced mechanical engineer to lead our MEICA Engineering Design team and support and deliver existing and new high-profile projects. You will be central to the water, gas and energy team, assisting in the delivery of projects for key public and private sector clients in Ireland and further afield. Offices available in Dublin, Galway, Cork, Sligo and Kilkenny, with hybrid working possible. About the Role:
- Leading the MEICA Design team to support the delivery of projects and programmes of work.
- Attending or leading design review meetings taking into account client specifications, contractual obligations and any other client requirements.
- Mentoring and developing staff from graduate level through to senior design engineers.
- Solving problems and developing design solutions, playing a central role in designing necessary mechanical equipment for power and process control.
- Producing design deliverables, such as specifications, drawings, data sheets, and schedules, in accordance with contract requirements.
- Ensuring design risk assessments and design solutions consider innovation/value engineering for best value, as well as safety, cost, and time constraints.
- Participating in Client project kick-off, technical and steering meetings.
- Attending/chairing site progress, commissioning and handover meetings.
- Attending/chairing HAZID and HAZOP workshops.
- Continuously developing your skills and staying up-to-date with the latest technologies, best practices, and innovations within the water and utility industry.
- Ensuring all design activities comply with the requirements of the company's Integrated Management Systems and procedures. Identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Providing guidance and advice to site, construction, and remote delivery teams at all stages.
- Reporting to Line Manager / Business Unit Leader.
- Working as part of an integrated team to deliver high quality engineering services for our clients. You will be expected to work on delivery of multiple projects concurrently.
- Providing technical input to our cross sector multidisciplinary internal project teams.
- Preparing technical reports and effectively communicate outputs to our clients.
- Further developing and broadening the technical capacity of the MEICA team.
- Have a Level 8 degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline. A post graduate Level 9 Masters would be advantageous.
- Be a Chartered Engineer with a professional body such as Engineers Ireland.
- Be project focussed, proactive and independent, and able to provide a supporting project management role.
- Have a proven ability to deliver project and tasks to a high quality, on time and within budget.
- Have a minimum of 20 years relevant experience in the design/delivery of MEICA design services ideally in the water, gas and power industry.
- Be able to produce high quality reports, presentations and deliverables to clearly communicate complex issues, demonstrate logical analysis and provide robust justification for design decisions and statements made.
- Have a proven track record of design delivery.
- Have analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to diagnose problems and identify and recommend solutions.
- Have the ability to lead and motivate.
- Have the ability to plan, manage and prioritise own workload.
- Specialist technical knowledge of mechanical, electrical and ICA design.
- Specialist technical knowledge of water & wastewater treatment design.
- Specialist technical knowledge of water and wastewater pipeline and pumping station design, including surge analysis.
- Participate and/or lead HAZID and HAZOP processes.
- Participate and/or lead site & factory testing and commissioning processes.
- Competence in the economic appraisal of projects and plans. Experience of using CBA and MCA techniques would be beneficial.
- Competence in technical team development and the application of best-practice principles and concepts to engineer innovative solutions for clients.
- Competence in collaborating on multi-disciplinary projects with engineering, planning and environmental professionals.
- Aptitude to work independently to support effective and timely delivery of projects.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with clients, suppliers and colleagues.
- Diligent, professional and organised approach to work delivery.
- Proficiency in relevant engineering design packages.
- Excellent IT skills, familiar with relevant computer applications; MS Office.
