Well, that’s exactly what we are doing here at Collins Aerospace. As a Structural Analysis Engineer, you will use your technical expertise to model and analyze aircraft structure and system integration. You are expected to have a thorough knowledge in the field of aircraft structural analysis, morphing structures, a broad knowledge of one or more related disciplines (finite element modeling, classical stress analysis, durability, and damage tolerance), and apply your understanding of the principles of structural analysis toward the solution of technical problems. You will be responsible for preliminary and detailed analysis of aircraft structures, structural assemblies, and full documentation of results. This role is within an international team with great talent who are passionate and knowledgeable about Thermo-Mechanical Systems. You will join a worldwide community of researchers influencing and developing industry-changing technology through a mixture of theoretical analysis, modeling, simulations, and proof-of-concept demonstrations. What YOU will do:
  • You will perform finite element modeling for metals and composites (both linear and nonlinear), FEA frequency, dynamics, and vibration analysis.
  • You will perform stress and stability analysis and methods for primary and secondary structures, including strength and stability analysis ensuring structural integrity of joints and fasteners.
  • You will perform durability and damage tolerance with damage tolerance, durability, and crack growth analysis.
  • You will carry out noise and vibration analysis by applying your understanding of noise, vibration, and fatigue.
  • You will engage in creative thinking that leads to innovative concepts in the above-mentioned areas.
  • You will develop and successfully execute related technology research plans.
What YOU will learn:
  • You will get exposure to research that will enhance your technical acumen and professional development.

  • Experience with two-way Fluid Structure Interaction (FSI) or electromagnetic modeling (preferably in Maxwell software).
  • Experience with fluid flow modeling in ANSYS Fluent or Siemens StarCCM+ is a plus.
  • Experience in MBSE modeling in Dymola is a plus.
Skills we value:
  • An applied background in aerospace systems and architecture is a plus.
  • Experience with aerospace regulations and certification standards.
