The HSE Coordinator is responsible for the implementation and management of health, safety, and environmental programs within the organization. This role involves ensuring compliance with local and federal regulations, promoting a culture of safety, and working closely with all departments to enhance workplace safety practices. Essential Functions:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain HSE programs, policies, and procedures in accordance with applicable legislation and company standards.
  • Conduct regular reviews and updates to ensure compliance and effectiveness.
  • Coordinate and deliver HSE training programs for employees, ensuring they are aware of safety procedures and practices.
  • Maintain training records and ensure all personnel are compliant with training requirements.
  • Oversee incident reporting and investigation processes, ensuring thorough investigations are conducted and corrective actions are implemented.
  • Analyze incident data to identify trends and recommend improvements.
  • Conduct regular workplace inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Prepare reports on findings and work with management to address any issues.
  • Stay informed about relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations and industry best practices.
  • Liaise with regulatory agencies as required, ensuring all documentation and reporting are completed accurately and on time.
  • Serve as a point of contact for HSE matters and promote effective communication regarding safety initiatives and updates.
  • Prepare and present regular reports to management on HSE performance and compliance status.
  • Develop and implement emergency response plans and procedures.
  • Conduct drills and training to ensure employees are prepared for emergency situations.
Required Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in a health, safety, and environmental role, preferably in a similar industry.
  • Relevant certifications (e.G. NEBOSH, IOSH, OSHA) are an asset.
Competencies:
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian HSE regulations and standards.
  • Excellent analytical and problem- solving skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and environmental stewardship.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and engage employees at all levels.
Travel Requirements:
  • Travel requirements 25-50% within Canada some travel to the states.
Physical Demands:
  • Must be able to sit up to 8 hours.
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs.
