EL2 Director, Service Guidance & Practice Contract Term: Initial contract to 31 December 2025 Deakin Office location with flexible working option available About the Role: The Service Guidance and Practice Branch is responsible for the design and delivery of guidance to operationalise policy, improvements, and system enhancements to support the Agency's front line (National Delivery). The branch develops operational guidelines and internal staff guidance about using our business system. This guidance enables front line staff to make consistent decisions when working with participants. The branch also develops a range of material for participants and external stakeholders, such as the Would we Fund it Guide, letters, forms, and factsheets. Responsibilities of the role include but are not limited to: Leading the delivery of key strategies to enhance guidance material to improve participant experience and the capability of the Agency and partners. Ensuring the quality of guidance material including accessibility, clear messaging, and the principles of behavioural economics applied. Reporting on key deliverables and continuous improvement activities to align with National Delivery support priorities. Collaborating with key stakeholders to coordinate, research, and develop agreed policies, guidelines, and protocols to be implemented across the service delivery network. Skills and Experience: Key skills required for the role: Provide strategic direction to a work area, including developing business plans, strategies, and priorities, and monitor workflow and performance. Provide strategic advice, problem solving, and issues management for internal and external stakeholders in relation to complex and potentially controversial matters. Require extensive knowledge of and compliance with legislative frameworks, government decision-making, and agency guidelines and regulations. Anticipate and establish priorities, monitor progress, and work to deliver required corporate outcomes, specific agency functions, or a program within an area of responsibility. Manage a team or work area with diverse skill sets and tasks or manage a larger team where skill sets and tasks are related. Provide high-level analysis of issues and make a significant contribution to the management, preparation, and coordination of complex inputs to policy formulation. Desirable skills to have for the role: Develop and interpret policy in a specialised area of work that requires extensive understanding and consideration of highly sensitive organisational and political issues. Liaise, consult, and negotiate with other Government, industry, and community groups on a range of more complex policy issues. Eligibility / Other Requirements: The successful candidate will be required to undergo a pre-employment National Police History check, Worker Screening check and/or Working with Children Check (where required) and provide evidence of Australian Citizenship.
