The Opportunity: Our client, a major contributor in the agriculture sector and is looking for a Health & Safety Manager to join their team in Leamington, Ontario. Reporting to the Vice President of Human Resources, the Health & Safety Manager will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to foster a safety-oriented culture, managing health and safety policies, ensuring compliance, and coordinating with various departments to address risks. What You’ll Be Responsible For:

• Leading comprehensive risk assessments to identify potential workplace hazards.
• Implementing risk management strategies and controls to minimize accidents.
• Employing task-based risk assessments to address ongoing hazards via the hierarchy of controls.
• Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of risk management initiatives.
• Creating, reviewing, and updating health and safety policies in compliance with regulations.
• Ensuring effective communication of policies to all employees and adherence to them.
• Ensuring compliance with Occupational Health and Safety standards across Canadian and US locations.
• Preparing and submitting required reports to regulatory agencies.
• Conducting audits and inspections to ensure compliance and address issues.
• Developing and delivering training programs on health and safety practices.
• Participating in cross-functional investigations of workplace incidents to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Developing and implementing emergency response plans and procedures.
• Conducting drills and simulations to ensure emergency readiness.
• Acting as a liaison between management, employees, and regulatory agencies on health and safety issues.
• Adopting a safety-focused approach by collaborating on prevention through design and PSSR programs.

The Ideal Candidate:

• Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Human Resources, Business, or Kinesiology, preferred.
• Occupational Health and Safety Certification.
• 5+ years of experience in health and safety risk management, demonstrating success in developing and implementing safety programs while ensuring compliance.
• Comprehensive knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Regulations in both Canada and the USA.
• Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Processes, Food Safety Regulations, and HACCP.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• A confident presence with business acumen and effective presentation skills.
• Proficient in developing and implementing best practices, strategies, and company vision.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, a collaborative management style, and the ability to provide clear direction.
• Outstanding verbal and written communication skills, capable of engaging with all employee groups.

Complimentary Experience: Experience in the manufacturing or production industry would be considered an asset.
