QA/QC Manager – Tartistes Tarts (South Burnaby) Tartistes Tarts, a food processing company based in South Burnaby, is seeking a proactive, hands-on QA/QC Manager with strong technical skills and a desire to advance into a leadership role. Below are the key responsibilities, qualifications, and expectations for the role: Key Responsibilities: 1.Food Safety & Quality Monitoring:
- Promote a safe work environment and culture.
- Ensure adherence to food safety and GMP practices.
- Perform inspections, calibrations, and environmental monitoring (sanitation, pest control, etc.).
- Ensure regulatory and company standards are met for equipment and facilities.
- Conduct quality-related forms and line inspections, and material, in-process, and finished product sampling/testing.
- Lead non-conformance processes, including root cause analysis, corrective and preventive actions, customer complaints resolution, and trend analysis to identify recurring issues and implement long-term solutions.
- Collaborate with R&D and production teams to ensure quality and food safety standards in new product development and process changes.
- Lead internal mock recalls with clear communication and documentation.
- Monitor the allergen management program closely to maintain compliance with food safety standards and prevent cross-contamination.
- Provide training on SQF, GMP, and food safety standards.
- Onboard new hires on quality and food safety procedures.
- Coordinate training sessions for both new and existing equipment to ensure proper usage and efficiency.
- Participate in management meetings, providing insights from a QAQC perspective.
- Maintain nutritional databases, update product specifications, and assess ingredients/materials for compliance.
- Ensure production processes meet specifications and quality standards.
- Oversee product shelf-life analysis and 3rd-party lab testing.
- Lead health and safety meetings and monitor work areas to identify and mitigate risks.
- Comply with safety policies and accident prevention measures.
- Circulate only food safety and production documents, maintaining accurate records.
- Track and report quality results like sensory evaluations and shelf-life testing.
- Ensure accuracy in product specifications and labels, managing ingredient changes and compliance.
- Identify and address gaps in Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Contribute to departmental KPIs and monthly reports.
- Schedule and manage both preventive and regular maintenance of the facility to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
- Strong technical skills, hands-on approach, and readiness to take on leadership.
- Ability to challenge decisions affecting HACCP, SQF programs, and food safety.
- Exceptional organizational skills, with the ability to delegate and supervise staff.
- Commitment to promoting a culture of safety, GMP, and quality.
- Strong problem-solving skills and good communication.
- A proactive thinker who can provide a QAQC perspective in management meetings.
- Lead SQF Audit experience.
- QA/QC experience, with at least 1 year as a food safety technician, preferably in an SQF facility.
