Senior Project Estimator

Infracon is a full-service civil construction & industrial services group with job sites all over Western Canada. We are seeking an experienced Project Estimator to join our Estimating team in Calgary, AB. Reporting to the Regional Manager, the Estimator is responsible for researching, preparing, and coordinating comprehensive estimates for assigned projects. This role involves analyzing specifications, drawings, requests for proposals, and other documentation to prepare competitive and detailed proposals. The ultimate goal is to secure profitable and sustainable work in alignment with Infracon’s corporate philosophies and objectives. Key Responsibilities:
- Develop complete tender submissions using appropriate crews, production rates, and material/subcontractor pricing reflective of project type and complexity.
- Lead handoff meetings with Operations, ensuring all required documentation is in place.
- Prepare supplemental bid submission documents, including execution plans, schedules, bonds, qualifications, and charge-out rates.
- Conduct detailed quantity take-offs and cost/time estimates.
- Solicit, prepare, and review supplier and subcontractor proposals and pricing.
- Analyze design drawings, specifications, and other project documents to fully understand risks, execution strategies, and schedules.
- Review and properly file all project addendums.
- Assist in creating construction cost budgets for awarded tenders.
- Collaborate with the Estimating Manager to ensure the accurate and timely submission of tenders.
- Integrate project safety standards and environmental requirements into estimates to meet or exceed contractual or regulatory standards.
- Perform accurate material take-offs and create project-specific documents, such as traffic management plans, quality control plans, and site safety plans.
- Periodically update equipment, labour, and material rates in Heavy Bid to reflect current market conditions.
- Maintain and nurture relationships with clients, owners, engineers, vendors, and subcontractors.
- Stay proficient with bidding/takeoff software (e.G., HeavyBid, Bluebeam, Agtek) and seek opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Monitor tender/procurement websites (e.G., AB Purchasing Connection, Sask Tenders, Merx, Bid Central) daily and forward suitable projects to the Regional Manager.
- Record work hours and assign them to appropriate billing entities.
- Maintain accurate records of important estimating notes and correspondence for all tenders.
- Perform additional tasks as delegated by the Regional Manager to support the success of the estimating team.
- Other duties and responsibilities to support the success of Infracon.
- Proven experience in construction estimating, preferably within the heavy civil or industrial sectors.
- Proficiency in estimating software (e.G., HeavyBid, Bluebeam, Agtek) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret detailed specifications, drawings, and related documents.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects under tight deadlines.
- Knowledge of safety and environmental standards applicable to construction projects.
- Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders.
- Familiarity with procurement platforms is an asset.
