We’re looking for a Manager, Total Rewards to join our dynamic HR team. What You’ll Do As the Manager, Total Rewards, you’ll be a key leader in designing and overseeing Metro’s Compensation, Benefits, and Retirement programs. Reporting to the Director, Total Rewards & HR Technology, you’ll be supported by a team to drive impactful change and ensure our rewards programs are modern, fair, and future-proof. Total Rewards Strategy & Leadership
  • Contribute to the development and lead the execution of company Total Rewards Strategy to align with overall HR strategy and meet business requirements.
  • Assist in the design, launch, and manage the overall compensation and benefits framework.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to HR Business Partners and senior leadership on compensation, benefits, and pay equity topics.
Compensation Programs
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of a competitive salary structure, job leveling frameworks, and short-term incentive programs.
  • Analyze market trends, benchmark data, and internal pay equity to ensure fairness and compliance.
  • Oversee the administration of merit increases, job evaluations, and incentive plans, ensuring smooth execution.
Benefits & Well-Being
  • Contribute to the review, selection, and administration of extended health and dental benefit programs.
  • In collaboration with the Director, Total Rewards and other leaders, work with brokers, insurers, and vendors to ensure the best value for Metro and its employees.
  • Oversee compliance with regulations related to benefits (e.G., taxable benefits, reporting requirements).
Retirement Programs
  • Manage Metro’s retirement programs, including defined benefit (DB), defined contribution (DC), GRRSP, and DPSP programs.
  • Ensure timely completion of filings and compliance with pension regulations.
Compliance, Risk & Reporting
  • Ensure Total Rewards programs comply with legal requirements (like Pay Equity and Employment Equity).
  • Complete all required government filings and participate in audits.
  • Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to address emerging risks.
Lead and Develop a High-Performing Team
  • Lead a team of 3 to 5 Team Members — inspiring, coaching, and supporting them as they grow in their roles.
  • Provide clear direction, set goals, and prioritize team deliverables.
  • Champion a culture of learning, growth, and continuous improvement.
What We’re Looking For This role is for someone who can think strategically but act tactically. We want a hands-on leader who’s comfortable navigating complexity, driving modernization, and leading a team. Here’s what we think the ideal candidate looks like: Experience & Skills
  • 5+ years of leadership experience in Total Rewards, Compensation, or Benefits, preferably within complex, multi-site organizations.
  • Strong technical knowledge of compensation design, benefits administration, and regulatory compliance (Ontario Pay Equity, taxable benefits, etc.).
  • Hands-on experience with HRIS systems (experience with Dayforce is a plus).
  • Skilled in using Excel and PowerPoint to analyze data, create models, and deliver insights to senior leaders.
  • Demonstrated project management skills to handle multiple priorities, deadlines, and stakeholder needs.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills — able to explain complex concepts to employees, managers, and executives alike.
Education & Certification
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) or Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) certification is a bonus.
