System Administrator

Job Overview: The System Administrator will be responsible for managing and maintaining the company’s IT infrastructure and network systems, ensuring a secure and reliable computing environment that supports our online car rental services. This role involves working 40 hours per week. Key Responsibilities:

1. Install, configure, and maintain server hardware and software to support the company’s IT infrastructure.
2. Set up and manage virtual servers, networked workstations, and secure connections for remote access.
3. Perform regular system upgrades and apply patches to keep software and firmware current.
4. Monitor network performance to ensure reliable connectivity for all employees and services, including online customer booking systems.
5. Configure and manage firewalls, routers, and VPNs to protect the company’s network and prevent unauthorized access.
6. Develop and implement network security policies, including access control, data encryption, and threat detection, to safeguard sensitive customer and business information.
7. Provide technical support to staff across departments, assisting with hardware, software, and connectivity issues.
8. Onboard new employees by setting up system accounts, configuring access levels, and providing initial training on system usage and security protocols.
9. Maintain a ticketing system for tracking and prioritizing support requests to ensure timely resolutions.
10. Continuously monitor system performance, identifying and resolving issues proactively to minimize downtime.
11. Implement load balancing, resource scaling, and network optimization techniques to ensure systems are capable of handling high transaction volumes, especially during peak booking periods.
12. Conduct regular audits of system logs and usage reports to optimize performance and identify potential vulnerabilities.
13. Design and maintain data backup schedules and recovery processes to ensure all critical data is backed up regularly.
14. Test disaster recovery and business continuity plans, including data restoration exercises, to minimize service disruption in case of system failures.
15. Maintain up-to-date documentation of recovery processes and conduct training sessions with relevant personnel.
16. Document all system configurations, changes, and maintenance activities for auditing and future reference.
17. Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and data protection regulations related to IT systems and customer data.
18. Collaborate with the System Administrator to maintain secure, efficient, and well-integrated database systems.
19. Work closely with the System Administrator, software developers, and other IT team members to ensure seamless integration and support of all technological solutions.
20. Communicate system status, upcoming maintenance, and any known issues with non-technical staff and management as needed.

1. Bachelor's degree (or above) in computer science or related field preferred or more than 3 years previous closely-related experience required.
2. Understanding of IT infrastructure, network systems, and security protocols.
3. Ability to effectively communicate with multiple teams and vendors.
4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
5. Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize work effectively in a fast-paced working environment.
