Join NZ Customs as a Release Engineer and embark on an exciting journey! This role is a full-time permanent position based in our Wellington Customhouse. About this role… Reporting to the Product Manager, Information and Data, this is a critical role which ensures high quality reporting platform releases. In this role, you will lead development operations for the Data and Information team, including the establishment and management of release pipelines, end-to-end testing solutions and the optimisation of cloud expenditure to ensure reporting platform releases are met. The Release Engineer will develop and maintain continuous deployment pipelines, monitor Azure and Fabric cost consumption and will work closely with the Product Manager and other members of the product team to understand the technology roadmap, developing and maintaining assets to monitor data quality.   • Demonstrated understanding of industry best practices and approach differences when releasing to different environments within an SDLC and via a CI/CD pipeline.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Microsoft Fabric or Power BI lifecycle management.
  • 5 years+ of relevant experience of all aspects of automation testing, ideally including incorporating them into test frameworks as part of an automated CI/CD pipeline.
  • Hands on experience developing and maintaining continuous deployment pipelines using Azure DevOps.
  • Hands on experience developing automated testing solutions.
  • Hands on experience monitoring data quality in an enterprise reporting solution.
  • Experience working within an agile enterprise reporting team.
  • Experience working in a cross-skilled agile software team, including the demonstrated ability to influence a team to adopt an improvement.
  • Experience as part of product development and support team, or similar role, within a product lifecycle including operational support of business-critical services, ideally public facing, within New Zealand sector.
  • ISTQB certification/s.
  • A tertiary qualification at least equivalent to Bachelors level e.g. BSC or comparable.

A national security clearance to a confidential level is required for this position. Because of the nature of Customs' work you must have a clear Police record. Organisational security clearances are mandatory and are conducted by Customs. You will also be required to pass a drug test. You must have a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed by the New Zealand Security Intelligence Service towards a recommendation of suitability for security clearance at a higher level.
