Lead a team to manage reserving, valuation, pricing, or risk processes for the assigned portfolio, providing insights, recommendations, and support to actuarial and risk leaders on risks, performance, and business implications. Client Details A leading Global FI. Description
- Lead a team delivering actuarial expertise to management and business partners, providing insights into performance and business implications for moderately complex topics.
- Key responsibilities include conducting advanced statistical analyses, developing and interpreting models, ensuring the quality of actuarial data, and supporting risk-based capital model development and calibration.
- Oversee adherence to internal actuarial policies, drive process improvements, and mentor and develop actuarial staff.
- Education & Professional Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, or a related field.
- Fellow or Associate qualification in a recognized actuarial body (e.g., IFoA, SOA, or equivalent).
- Experience:
- Minimum 8-10 years of actuarial experience in the insurance or reinsurance industry.
- In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with IFRS 17 standards, particularly implementation and financial impact assessment.
- Strong background in actuarial modelling, especially using tools like Prophet, AXIS, MoSes, or other actuarial software.
- Experience with risk-based capital frameworks, financial reporting, or valuation (e.g., MCEV, EV, or Solvency II).
- Proven track record of leading or contributing to significant actuarial projects.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in actuarial modelling software (e.g., Prophet, MG-ALFA) and familiarity with data analytics tools (e.g., R, Python, VBA, SQL).
- Strong understanding of financial reporting standards, accounting practices, and actuarial methodologies related to IFRS 17.
- Knowledge of reserving techniques, cash flow modelling, and reinsurance arrangements.
- Leadership & Management:
- Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor teams in a high-pressure environment.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex actuarial concepts into business-friendly insights for senior management and the Board.
- Additional Assets:
- Experience in the local and regional insurance market regulations.
- Exposure to IFRS 9 or similar accounting frameworks is advantageous.
- Knowledge of Takaful insurance principles (if applicable to the market).
