A Clinical Dietitian-PRN conducts initial nutrition assessments and provides ongoing care and education for patients in an acute care setting. This role requires registration as a Registered Dietitian and knowledge in various subspecialties, including nutrition support and diabetes management. The dietitian must maintain continuing education and relevant certifications while ensuring patient safety and proper nutrition practices. Responsibilities: Job Summary
  • Provides initial nutrition assessment of patient condition.
  • Provides ongoing reassessment and follow up care.
  • Provides nutrition education services for patient and staff.

Qualifications Education Required: Any program approved by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics that leads to registration as a Registered Dietitian/Registered Dietitian-Nutritionist (RD/RDN). Basic knowledge of subspecialty area (including nutrition support, diabetes, cardiology, renal, oncology, etc.) Must obtain approximately 15 hours of continuing education credits per calendar year. Keep current of new findings/research. Experience Preferred: Six months of clinical experience in an acute care facility preferred. Licensure/Certification Required: Registration with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and an Oklahoma State Dietitian license must be achieved within the first 6 months of employment. Must obtain a food handler's permit from the Cleveland County Health department before hire (or within 1 week of hire). Completion of general and patient care orientation is required prior to providing patient care.  Other Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Required: Must be able to use decision making skills to make rational & quick decisions regarding prioritizing of patient care. Have the foresight to recognize unsafe work conditions and/or practices. The ability to safely use chemicals and equipment for the patients, visitors and staff. Knowledge base for use of different formula's when assessing patient's nutritional needs.
