We're looking for an experienced professional to fill our Senior Legal Counsel to support our South Queensland & Northern Australian Regions. This is a great 12-month fixed term opportunity. Reporting to the Assistant General Counsel – South Queensland & Northern Australia , you will work closely with business leaders to provide timely legal advice to the business and support GHD’s national legal team with a focus on complex projects. Together with your colleagues, clients and partners, you'll make an impact that is felt by all. See where your commitment could take you. Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in: Reviewing, negotiating and drafting a wide range of commercial contracts, including consultancy contracts in various contexts, such as design and construct, design only, alliancing, pure consultancy (or sub-consultancy) services, confidentiality agreements, memoranda of understanding, for major infrastructure and other projects. Supporting and providing direction on legal issues for non-legal technical staff. Working with the GHD Project and Business Leadership teams in the negotiation of contracts. Partnering with Project Directors and Project Managers to support them in the documentation, finalisation and execution of contracts. Advising the business on corporate approval procedures. Assisting in the implementation of contract risk management procedures. In addition, a key aspect of this position will see you provide advice on various general legal issues that arise from day to day in a global consulting firm. These can be in the areas of employment, privacy and contract law, intellectual property law, commercial disputes and litigation management to name a few. You will also be supporting the business with advice on legislative compliance, internal policies and some corporate governance matters. What you will bring to the team: 10+ years PQE (with an Australian Practising Certificate). Experience in contract reviews and drafting with a strong understanding of contract law. Experience in negotiating and advising on various procurement models including alliances and Design & Construct. Exposure to intellectual property law desirable. In-house experience in an engineering or construction law environment is highly desirable.
