Job Overview: An experienced Project Manager is sought to lead small to medium-sized thermal projects within the oil and gas sector. The ideal candidate will bring over 10 years of expertise, particularly in managing the engineering design of Steam-Assisted Gravity Drainage (SAGD) Central Processing Facilities and well pads in an EPCM environment. This role involves overseeing multidisciplinary teams, building strong client relationships, and ensuring the successful execution of complex projects. Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the Project Manager for assigned projects or feasibility study facility projects within the thermal energy sector.
- Maintain direct contact with clients and scope projects according to their requests and requirements.
- Assign tasks to project team members, coordinating activities across various disciplines both within and outside the organisation.
- Coordinate internal disciplines to perform complex engineering tasks, including detailed calculations as required by the project.
- Oversee the coordination and review of the Project Charter, Project Design Basis Memorandum, execution plans, budgets, and schedules for small to medium-sized projects.
- Support the preparation of design documents required by engineering disciplines and equipment engineers for detailed engineering.
- Prepare and maintain engineering control documents aligned with the master project schedule.
- Review and approve detailed engineering drawings and deliverables.
- Ensure timely reporting on project schedules, cost control, progress updates, and other internal and external reporting needs.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, addressing concerns and maintaining strong relationships.
- Provide project management and engineering oversight to meet cost, schedule, safety, and quality targets.
- Assist in manpower planning through regular project review meetings.
- Expedite the successful completion of assigned projects by implementing necessary actions.
- Enforce quality control practices to meet company and client standards, ensuring adherence to engineering policies, procedures, and systems.
- Strong background in managing thermal projects within the oil and gas sector, particularly SAGD CPFs and well pads.
- Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and foster a collaborative work environment.
- Deep understanding of engineering design processes and industry standards within an EPCM environment.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with a client-focused approach.
- Ability to address and resolve complex project challenges effectively.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presenting to clients and stakeholders.
- Strong planning, prioritisation, and time management abilities.
- Skilled in designing and optimising thermal systems, such as heat exchangers, boilers, and cooling towers.
- Experience identifying and implementing process efficiency and energy conservation improvements in oil and gas facilities.
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or a related field) from a recognised institution.
- Registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or Licensed Engineer (P.L.Eng.) with APEGA is required.
- Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
