Position title: Test Engineer-Reliability Reporting to: Mechanical Integrity Engineering Manager Type of position: Fulltime, permanent, In person Summary of Business: Amphenol High Speed Products Group is the market leader for high speed, high bandwidth electrical connectors for the Telecom/Datacom market (Mobile Networks, Storage, Servers, Routers, Switches, etc.). Our products help to enable the electronics revolution and remain a key enabler for all the major Tier 1 OEMs globally. The position will be in in person 5950 14th Avenue, Markham, On L3S 4M4. Responsibilities As a Test Engineer, you will take a leading role in supporting the testing and validation processes of new products. This includes ensuring the reliability and performance of these products through testing, analysis of data, and detailed examination of designs. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify potential issues, recommend improvements, and ensure that the products meet the required standards and specifications before they are released. Support the development of new HSIO product portfolio and corresponding processes via mechanical simulation, testing and qualification. - Design and implement test plans to evaluate the performance, durability, and reliability of electrical connectors under various conditions, ensuring they meet the required specifications and customer needs. - Evaluate and recommend improvements to product designs based on test results, reliability studies, and failure analysis to ensure enhanced product performance. - Conduct stress testing and environmental testing (e.G., temperature, humidity, vibration, shock) to simulate real-world conditions and ensure product resilience over time. - Coordinate and oversee test schedules, ensuring all required testing is completed within project timelines and providing progress updates to management. - Assist in the creation and maintenance of test documentation for product validation, including test procedures, test reports, and compliance certificates. - Collaborate with R&D teams to refine testing methods and adapt to emerging technologies or new product development challenges. - Perform statistical analysis of test data using tools like Minitab to identify trends, evaluate product performance, and provide data-driven recommendations. - Support product certification processes, working with third-party agencies to facilitate product testing, validation, and certification in accordance with customer or regulatory standards.
- Monitor and optimize testing processes to ensure continuous improvement in testing techniques, cost reduction, and enhanced reliability. - Provide technical support and training to junior engineers and other team members on test methodologies, tools, and best practices. Qualifications. - MS/PhD Mechanical/Materials Engineering with 2-5 years of experience or equivalent - Experience with solid modeling tools - Pro/E and/or SolidWorks, - Experience with data analysis software, MS Excel, Minitab would be a plus. - Experience developing test plans for mechanical and environmental stresses of I/O connectors, ESD testing would be a plus. - Ability to work in team environment and communicate with technical & non-technical stakeholders. - Desire to create and design new products and processes. - Understand customer, industry standard and internal Quality Test Plan requirements. - Knowledge of copper alloys and high-performance engineering thermoplastics would be a plus. - Understanding of electrical connectors and with quality concepts and testing methods to ensure product integrity.
