About this role:

We have an exciting new opportunity for a Land Development Engineering Manager in our Development Support team, and are excited to offer you the chance to be part of this great team working across our district. This critical role will be responsible for leading and managing the Land Development Engineering Team, to deliver specialist engineering services for resource consent and post-approval activities which support the successful development of land within the district.

What I do?

  1. You will work closely with the Land Development Engineering Team Leaders to successfully lead their teams.
  2. Provide support and direction to the wider Development Support Team to deliver timely, cost-effective development services.
  3. Manage and enhance team performance to enable proactive, responsive and exceptional customer service across WDC.
  4. Lead, influence, advise, share knowledge, and seek feedback while raising awareness of communication issues, challenges, and opportunities.
  5. Drive innovation and continuous improvement across all systems and processes, improving productivity and customer experience.
  6. Deliver effective procurement & contract management, ensuring value for money, relationship and organisational risks are managed.
  7. Manage operational budget to ensure that committed outcomes are delivered within budget and on time.
  8. Work with in-house Infrastructure Development Advisors and asset owners to support economic growth, infrastructure development and sustainable communities.

What I bring?

  1. A minimum of 7 years' experience in land development engineering or similar role.
  2. You will have a relevant tertiary engineering qualification, and ideally will be a member of IPENZ.
  3. Proven ability to effectively lead, support and develop a team to reach team goals.
  4. Extensive knowledge of the Resource Management Act.
  5. Demonstrated experience managing financial budgets.
  6. An understanding of, or the desire to learn about, te ao Maaori and tikanga.
  7. Knowledge, or a willingness to gain an appreciation, of te Tiriti o Waitangi and Te Ture Whaimana.

Additional Information
