Engineering Manager - Backend Development

Job Title: Engineering Manager (Backend - Fintech - Stock, Mutual Fund, Bitcoin) Location: Dubai (Relocation to Abu Dhabi) Salary: 1-1.5 Crore per annum Experience: 7-12 years Job Summary: As an Engineering Manager in our backend fintech team, you will be responsible for overseeing the technical direction and management of a team of skilled backend engineers. You will play a key role in shaping our product development processes, ensuring the delivery of high-performance, scalable, and secure backend systems supporting our stock, mutual fund, and cryptocurrency platforms. This is an exciting leadership role for a technically strong individual with a passion for fintech and team-building. Key Responsibilities:

1. Lead, manage, and mentor a team of backend engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
2. Take ownership of the backend architecture, ensuring it is scalable, secure, and capable of handling large-scale financial transactions and data.
3. Drive the design and implementation of robust backend systems for stock trading, mutual funds, and cryptocurrency platforms, in line with industry best practices.
4. Collaborate with product, frontend, and data engineering teams to define and prioritize technical requirements, ensuring alignment with business goals.
5. Define and enforce engineering standards and practices, including code reviews, testing, documentation, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) processes.
6. Ensure backend systems comply with regulatory and security requirements, including those specific to the fintech industry (e.g., PCI-DSS, GDPR).
7. Provide technical leadership in solving complex engineering challenges related to high-volume financial transactions and real-time data processing.
8. Evaluate and select new technologies and tools to continuously improve system performance, scalability, and maintainability.
9. Maintain clear communication with senior management, providing updates on project status, risks, and resource needs.
10. Promote an environment of continuous learning, growth, and innovation within the team.

1. Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
2. 8+ years of experience in backend engineering, with at least 3+ years in a managerial or leadership role, ideally within the fintech sector (stock trading, mutual funds, or cryptocurrencies).
3. Strong expertise in backend technologies such as Java, Python, Go, or similar languages.
4. Deep experience with microservices architecture, API design, event-driven systems, and distributed systems.
5. Proven track record of managing engineering teams and driving technical projects to successful delivery in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
6. In-depth knowledge of financial platforms and systems, including stock trading, mutual fund platforms, and cryptocurrency exchanges.
7. Familiarity with cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, GCP) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
8. Strong understanding of database systems (SQL, NoSQL) and their application in high-performance financial systems.
9. Experience with security and compliance regulations specific to the financial industry (e.g., GDPR, PSD2, PCI-DSS).
10. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills with a strong ability to collaborate across teams.
11. Ability to think strategically and translate business needs into technical solutions.
