As they enter a significant growth phase, they are seeking to hire an aspiring General Manager to lead the business, drive operational excellence and financial performance, and ensure outstanding customer satisfaction in the Thunder Bay region. POSITION SUMMARY To achieve success, the General Manager is required to be a thoughtful leader, intrinsically motivated, customer-centric and growth-focused. This is a regional sized business with enormous growth potential, with the necessary financial support and resources to scale it. Our client is seeking a leader with ambition to expand the company, and the successful candidate will be rewarded long term for their success doing so. The role is based in Thunder Bay Ontario. Relocation financial assistance will be considered on a required basis. - Operational Ownership: Oversee daily business operations with a deep understanding of end-to-end processes. Address customer needs promptly, demonstrating an ownership mindset.
- Customer Service Excellence: Act as the primary customer liaison, managing quotations and service requests while balancing customer expectations with other business priorities.
- Leadership & Team Development: Facilitate daily team meetings, provide clear direction, foster accountability, and maintain regular progress updates to ownership.
- Engaged Management: Build strong relationships with employees and customers through active engagement, including on-site visits for guidance and oversight of onsite services.
- Continuous Improvement: Drive operational efficiency by refining processes, prioritizing tasks, and identifying and implement more cost-effective solutions to operate the business.
- Ownership Mentality & Flexibility: Demonstrates genuine commitment to business success, with the ability to respond to after-hours needs when required.
- Small-to-Medium Sized Business Acumen: Proven success in hands-on, lean operational environments, independent of large corporate infrastructure.
- Customer-Focused Expertise: 3+ years of experience in customer-facing roles such as sales or service management, including quoting and managing sales pipelines.
- Strong Leadership Skills: Exceptional organizational and prioritization abilities, with a track record of building and leading high-performing teams.
- Hands-On Approach: Willingness to engage in practical tasks beyond standard managerial responsibilities to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Financial Proficiency: Solid understanding of financial statements, profitability drivers, and P&L management. Skilled in managing accounts receivable, accounts payable, and resolving invoice discrepancies.
- Technical Competence: Proficiency in Excel, Outlook, and Word for financial and inventory management software.
- Market Knowledge: Familiarity with Northern Ontario's customer landscape, including First Nations communities, mines, and major contractors an asset.
