Job Types: Full-time, Permanent Wage: $60,000-$85,000.00 per year Job description Pacific Ropes is looking for a motivated and experienced Estimator with project manager, steel fabrication and concrete rehabilitation experience to join our team. This role involves leading the estimating and pre-construction efforts for projects in BC, ensuring precise and thorough project estimates. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in construction estimating, particularly in structural steel fabrication installation and civil projects like bridges and dams, and will showcase strong leadership abilities along with excellent interpersonal communication skills. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the estimating and pre-construction process for projects in BC, collaborating with the Management Team.
- Oversee all aspects of the estimating and pre-construction process, including pre-estimate meetings, site visits, kickoff meetings, and estimate archiving.
- Conduct detailed analysis of contract documents and specifications to determine project requirements and identify risks.
- Complete comprehensive quantity take-offs of labor, equipment, and materials based on contract drawings and specifications.
- Work autonomously while providing leadership, coaching, and mentoring to maximize the efficiency and productivity of team members involved in estimates.
- Ensure adherence to project and company safety standards and environmental programs within estimates.
- Manage post-estimate/pre-construction efforts until the internal handover to Operations.
- Maintain and develop contacts within the construction industry
- Serve as an ambassador for the company, liaising with clients and owners
- Proactively seek new business opportunities to expand operations within Canada.
- Respond to RFPs and new construction projects, tracking deadlines and progress.
- Complete drawings for engineering and job planning purposes.
- Calculate costs by analyzing labor, material, and time requirements based on drawings and specifications.
- Manage bids from vendors and contractors.
- Consult with clients, vendors, and others to produce accurate estimates.
- Document site visits with pictures and site plans outlining equipment needs.
- Compile and record actual costs for projects.
- Maintain high levels of customer service and responsiveness, resolving customer issues promptly.
- Strengthen and build customer relationships to ensure retention.
- Assist the billing team with monthly invoicing.
- Attend weekly sales meetings with the operations team and prepare monthly sales reports.
- Manage CRM-Hubspot, including attending presentations, taking notes, updating CRM with new leads, and following up on new leads for estimating or RFPs.
- 2-5 years of construction estimating experience, preferably including structural steel installation and leading estimates of $1-10MM.
- Experience in steel bridge and industrial construction is advantageous.
- Experience as a Fabricator or welder (strong asset)
- Experience as a Mechanical Millwright (asset)
- Structural steel erection experience (asset)
- Degree in construction or civil engineering.
- Must be eligible to work in Canada.
