Job Posting: Development Manager About the Role This is an exciting opportunity for candidates eager to take ownership and grow within a leadership-focused organization. We are seeking a full-time, in-office Development Manager to lead and manage multiple Missing Middle developments from design development through to construction completion. This unique high-growth opportunity will allow you to play a pivotal role in scaling our dynamic company as we expand operations. As Development Manager, you will act as the “manager of the managers,” overseeing all phases of development, including design facilitation, permitting, and construction oversight. You will lead consultant teams—architects, engineers, and general contractors—to ensure projects are executed seamlessly, efficiently, and in alignment with our vision to revolutionize urban living. Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the full project lifecycle, from design development through permitting and construction completion.
  • Demonstrate adaptability by proactively navigating challenges and shifting priorities in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Manage and facilitate collaboration between architects, engineers, consultants, and general contractors to ensure project milestones are met.
  • Coordinate and oversee the work of project teams, providing leadership, clarity, and accountability.
  • Conduct ongoing project inspections and ensure quality control, timely delivery, and budget adherence.
  • Solve design and construction challenges as they arise, identify roadblocks, and develop solutions to maintain momentum.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to align projects with design intent, business objectives, and community impact.
  • Manage documentation, reporting, and permitting processes to ensure projects stay on schedule and compliant.
  • Support the growth and scaling of our development operations by implementing best practices, systems, and processes.
Qualifications & Experience
  • 4+ years of experience in design, architecture, construction management, or project management, with a strong interest in transitioning to full-cycle development management.
  • An undergraduate degree or equivalent in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus but not required.
  • Demonstrated experience in design and construction facilitation, with a focus on managing consultant teams.
  • Highly proficient in drawing, specification, and contract comprehension.
  • Familiarity with City of Calgary permitting processes, building codes, and construction methodologies.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite, Bluebeam, Procore, and other project management tools.
  • Proactive problem-solving ability and experience navigating project roadblocks.
  • A proven ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Mindset over experience: We prioritize attitude and a willingness to grow over perfect qualifications.
Why Join Us?
  • Growth Opportunity: Play a pivotal role in shaping and scaling a growing company, serving as a launchpad for ambitious individuals eager to advance their careers and make a meaningful impact.
  • Transition to Full Development Management: Start with a focus on managing active construction projects and grow into overseeing the full development lifecycle, from land acquisition to stabilization.
  • Impactful Work: Lead projects that are redefining urban living through innovative Missing Middle developments that transform neighbourhoods.
  • Mentorship & Collaboration: Work closely with experienced leaders in a supportive environment dedicated to your personal and professional growth.
  • Professional Development: Hone your skills in design facilitation, construction oversight, and leadership within a fast-paced environment.
If you’re a driven professional ready to take on a high-growth leadership role and transition into development management, we want to hear from you. Join us in transforming urban living and building vibrant, sustainable communities. To Apply: Please submit your resume and a brief cover letter outlining your relevant experience and interest in the role.
