Job Title: Civil Superintendent (Off-Site Utilities) Location: Vancouver / Lower Mainland Salary: $150k - $160k Job Overview: The Civil Superintendent is responsible for the overall management, coordination, and supervision of off-site utility construction projects, including water, sewer, storm drainage, and other related infrastructure. The role involves ensuring that all work is completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality and safety standards. The Civil Superintendent will liaise with subcontractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery. Key Responsibilities: Project Management:

  • Oversee the daily operations of off-site utility projects, including the installation of water, sewer, storm drainage, and other utility systems.
  • Ensure all work is performed in accordance with project plans, specifications, and local codes.
  • Coordinate with the Project Manager to develop and maintain project schedules, and ensure that timelines are met.
  • Manage and resolve any issues or conflicts that arise on-site to avoid project delays.
Team Leadership:
  • Supervise and direct the activities of construction crews, subcontractors, and other personnel involved in the project.
  • Conduct regular site meetings to communicate project goals, schedules, and safety expectations.
  • Provide guidance, training, and mentorship to site personnel to enhance productivity and safety.
Quality Control:
  • Ensure that all construction activities meet the required quality standards and specifications.
  • Conduct regular inspections of work completed to ensure compliance with project requirements.
  • Identify and address any deficiencies or issues that may impact project quality or safety.
Safety Management:
  • Implement and enforce safety protocols to maintain a safe work environment.
  • Conduct regular safety meetings and site inspections to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Report and document any accidents or incidents on-site and take corrective actions as necessary.
Budget and Cost Control:
  • Monitor project budgets and control costs to ensure that the project stays within financial constraints.
  • Approve and manage expenditures related to labor, materials, and equipment.
  • Prepare and submit regular reports on project progress, costs, and any changes to the Project Manager.
Stakeholder Communication:
  • Maintain effective communication with project stakeholders, including clients, engineers, and local authorities.
  • Coordinate with utility companies, municipalities, and other relevant agencies to secure necessary permits and approvals.
  • Provide regular updates to the Project Manager on project status, risks, and any potential issues.
Qualifications:
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in civil construction, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role, specifically in off-site utilities.
  • Technical Skills: Strong understanding of civil engineering principles, utility installation methods, and construction management practices.
  • Software: Proficiency in construction management software, scheduling tools, and MS Office Suite.
  • Skills: Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
