ROLE OVERVIEW The Senior Design Manager will be responsible for leading the design team and the design process for large-scale building projects (various asset types). The ideal candidate will have a strong background in architecture or engineering, with extensive experience in managing design processes for major construction projects. The Senior Design Manager will play a crucial role in ensuring the project’s success by overseeing all design-related activities, from conceptualization through to completion, ensuring they meet quality standards, budget, and schedule. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Lead and manage the design team, including architects, engineers, and other design professionals, to achieve project goals.
  2. Collaborate with project stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and consultants, to ensure the design meets all requirements and expectations.
  3. Oversee the development and implementation of design strategies, ensuring they align with project objectives, budget, and timeline.
  4. Ensure all design work complies with regulatory and environmental standards and guidelines.
  5. Manage the design process, from initial concept to final approval, ensuring milestones are met and deliverables are of high quality.
  6. Facilitate communication between the design team and other project teams to ensure a cohesive and efficient project progression.
  7. Review and approve design documents, drawings, and specifications, ensuring they are accurate and meet project standards.
  8. Identify and mitigate design-related risks and challenges, implementing solutions to prevent project delays or budget overruns.
  9. Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and best practices in design and construction management.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
  1. 10+ years of experience in design management, with a proven track record of success in leading design teams for large-scale building projects.
  2. Knowledge and previous experience in KSA and Middle East.
  3. Strong knowledge of design principles, construction methods, and project management processes.
  4. Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage and motivate a diverse team.
  5. Excellent written and spoken English.
  6. Proficient in design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, BIM) and project management tools.
  7. Familiarity with building codes, regulations, and sustainability practices.
  8. Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  9. Has a strong technical experience in design and specification, construction, commissioning, sustainability design, safety in design, environment requirements, and permitting process.
Qualifications
  1. Bachelor’s degree in architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  2. Master’s degree in similar field would be considered preferable.
