Job details

  • Ensuring knowledge of and compliance with policies, procedures, safety standards and site safety rules. Ensuring all staff are aware of their duties and responsibilities.
  • Carrying out SAFETY inductions for staff and visitors and coordinating SAFETY training and keeping records of these sessions.
  • Investigating, in conjunction with the BU QHSE manager, all accidents, injuries, fires, property damage, near misses and other SAFETY related incidents, issuing or circulating required reports and ensuring that recommended corrective and preventive measures are implemented.
  • Conducting inspections/audits and reporting deficiencies or violations of the SAFETY rules and regulations for corrective action.
  • Advising on and assisting in the implementation of corrective action or measures necessary to ensure site safety.
  • Forcefully executing their duties without tolerance for complacency or non-compliance in the project. Ensuring that regular breaches or safety complacency amongst site personnel are reported to senior management.
  • Checking the operational condition of safety and emergency equipment and ensuring that competent staff is trained in its use.
  • Ensure that the PTW System requirements are effectively implemented at the site.
  • Conduct regular site safety inspections to ensure a hazard-free work environment.
  • Ensuring site activities are being performed as per the approved method statement and the work sequences are correctly followed.
  • Ensuring the site personnel’s PPE compliance.
  • Executing any other safety, health and loss prevention related tasks as assigned by the Project SAFETY senior management.
  • Ensuring required third-party certificates, legal documents and other fitness certificates are available for all operational heavy equipment available at site.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS: Education and Certifications: University degree graduate preferably in Health / Hygiene / Quality management with a minimum of three years’ experience in a similar role with preferable previous experience in the Middle East. Should be computer literate with effective communication skills, both verbal and written in English & preferable additional in Arabic. Must certifications: NEBOSH IG, and OSHA. Good to have certifications: IOSH, ISO 45001, 14001 Internal Auditor. Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience working in a similar position. Deep knowledge and experience of QHSE local regulations and international standards and management is preferred. Expertise in Microsoft Office 365 is preferred. Skills: Communication Skills: Proficiency in clearly and effectively communicating safety procedures and protocols to employees at all levels. Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in identifying potential hazards and ensuring compliance with safety standards. Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to address and resolve safety issues and emergencies effectively. Training and Development: Skills in developing and delivering safety training programs to employees. Interpersonal Skills: Strong ability to work with a diverse team, including management and employees, to promote a culture of safety. Technical: Giving on-site advice as appropriate during inspection visits. Educating and guiding both the workforce and the employer in health and safety matters. Writing reports on findings, and suggestions for changes needed to comply with legislation. Raising the profile of health and safety at the workplace. Documentation and Reporting: Skills in maintaining accurate records of safety inspections, incidents, and compliance documentation. Incident Investigation: Proficiency in investigating accidents and incidents to determine causes and implement corrective actions. Behavioral: Pro-activeness: Taking initiative to identify and address potential safety issues before they become problems. Leadership: Demonstrating the ability to lead by example, influence others to adhere to safety practices, and drive a culture of safety within the organization. Adaptability: Being flexible and open to change in response to evolving safety regulations, technologies, and workplace conditions. Conflict Resolution: Addressing and resolving conflicts related to safety concerns or practices in a constructive manner.
