To implement, and maintain a variety of health, safety, and environmental programs to assure the highest possible degree of safety for HB employees. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  1. Practice safe working techniques and reinforce the safety policies, guidelines, and procedures as set out by the Company.
  2. Provide daily guidance and direction in EHS programs at the employee/supervisor level to ensure a common and effective approach.
  3. Responsible for assisting in the identification of possible losses; and evaluating the risk in such loss exposure.
  4. Developing and implementing a plan to correct or prevent a loss and audit the plan to ensure its effectiveness.
  5. Ensure that contractor personnel working on the property are in compliance with Avalon policies and safety requirements.
  6. Maintain and update as needed SOP's for all safe work practices and equipment and utilize them in the day to day training.
  7. Provide advice, assist, and audit line management to ensure that effective EHS is implemented and working.
  8. Perform and contribute to the Site Training Plans by conducting employee orientations; emergency response training; and coordination of modular training programs for the Operation.
  9. Ensure inspections by regulatory agencies are coordinated and deficiencies are minimized and corrected.
  10. Coordinate with VP, Operations, and General Manager on facility deficiencies and monthly safety inspections.
  11. Maintain all logs and documentation associated with permits and regulatory requirements.
  12. Assist with maintaining the Site Preparedness and Emergency Plans & Procedures.
  13. Responsible for coordinating regulatory programs and their applications and helping support the compliance process; supporting and providing relief for the environmental department.
  14. Accountable for researching and writing permit applications, working with environmental groups, and complying with permit reporting requirements.
  15. Review accidents and incidents in the area of responsibility and conduct, field audits, reporting, and managing the corrective actions.
  16. Maintain filing systems regarding worker training and safety.
  17. Maintain working relationships with regulatory agencies, chair or co-chair, and lead the safety committee for the operation.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree
Experience: 4-8 years of related experience in safety, environmental, or health management and compliance. #J-18808-Ljbffr
