We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Utilities Design Manager to join our rail infrastructure team in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. In this critical role, you will lead the design and implementation of utility systems for complex rail projects, ensuring efficient and sustainable solutions that meet the highest standards of quality and safety.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the design of utility systems for rail projects including power distribution, water supply, drainage, and telecommunications.
- Manage and mentor a team of design engineers, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality design packages.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including civil, structural, and systems engineers to integrate utility designs with overall rail infrastructure.
- Develop and implement design standards and procedures to ensure consistency and efficiency across projects.
- Conduct technical reviews of design deliverables to ensure compliance with project requirements, local regulations, and international standards.
- Liaise with clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities to resolve design issues and obtain necessary approvals.
- Analyze design alternatives and provide recommendations to optimize cost, schedule, and performance.
- Implement sustainable design practices to minimize environmental impact and improve energy efficiency.
- Prepare and present technical reports, design proposals, and project updates to senior management and stakeholders.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and best practices in rail utility design to drive innovation within the team.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 15 years of experience in utilities design for rail projects with a proven track record of successful project delivery.
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD or similar CAD software and Building Information Modeling (BIM) tools.
- In-depth knowledge of rail infrastructure and utilities systems including power distribution, water supply, drainage, and telecommunications.
- Familiarity with local and international rail design standards and regulations.
- Experience managing design teams and coordinating with multidisciplinary project teams.
- Excellent project management skills including the ability to manage schedules, budgets, and resources effectively.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make decisive recommendations.
- Advanced communication skills both verbal and written with the ability to present complex technical information to diverse audiences.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management software.
- Professional Engineering (PE) license preferred.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.
- Understanding of sustainable design practices in rail utilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
- Willingness to travel to project sites as required.
