Senior Director - Tax, Treasury & Senior Finance Appointments

Brewer Morris are seeking a highly experienced VAT Consultant to join a leading organisation in Qatar. This role involves identifying global best practices, implementing VAT policies, and ensuring compliance with VAT legislation across multiple regions. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in VAT implementation, functional requirements, and international VAT systems, and will play a pivotal role in driving VAT-related strategic initiatives. The Role
  • Identify and implement global best practices for VAT implementation.
  • Propose and design VAT policies and evaluate their impact on the business.
  • Prepare for and ensure compliance with VAT legislation.
  • Provide necessary explanations and clarifications on VAT legislation and regional regulations.
  • Recommend international best practices for designing VAT business processes that enhance user experience.
  • Analyze and adjust functional business requirements for the development of a VAT information system, in line with the groups strategy and tax legislation.
  • Set functional requirements for linking and integrating VAT operations with the information systems of external parties.
  • Ensure a correct understanding of tax policies and processes involved in the VAT information system development.
  • Review and validate all documents related to functional requirements of the VAT information system.
  • Oversee testing and business procedures for the VAT information system, ensuring adherence to tax policies and legislation.
  • Develop and implement VAT strategy and action plans.
  • Assess readiness and requirements necessary for VAT implementation.
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Professional Certificate.
  • At least 20 years of experience in a senior VAT role
  • Proven experience supervising the development and implementation of VAT programs.
  • Expertise in advanced tax systems and VAT implementation best practices.
  • Practical experience in financial institutions, tax authorities, or with auditors from international companies.
  • Demonstrated ability as a technically and administratively strong Tax team leader, preferably with a proven history of successful VAT implementation in leading countries.
  • Global experience, with a preference for candidates seeking to relocate to the Gulf Region.
