Job Title: Overhaul & Repair Engineer Reports To: Overhaul & Repair Manager Function: Service Location: Knowsley – Extensive UK travel, with Overseas travel a possible requirement. Join Clarke Energy as an Overhaul & Repair Engineer, where you’ll play a key role in maintaining the reliability and performance of our gas engines and associated plant equipment. Job Purpose Maximize the lifespan and performance of gas engines and associated systems by conducting overhauls and repairs on reciprocating gas engines. This role focuses on delivering high-quality work, minimizing customer downtime, and reducing costs. Key Responsibilities Maintenance and Troubleshooting
- Overhaul and repairs to reciprocating gas engines.
- Perform tasks to ensure equipment reliability while avoiding unnecessary part replacements.
- Identify and report faults discovered during engine overhauls or repairs.
- Work efficiently within the team to meet schedules and requirements.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with customers and colleagues through professional support.
- Communicate clearly with the Overhaul & Repair Manager to ensure timely completion of work.
- Document site visits and create detailed service reports in line with quality standards and deadlines.
- Maintain company-provided tools and equipment in excellent condition, ensuring they are clean, well-maintained, and calibrated as required.
- Select and order appropriate parts, returning unused items to minimize waste.
- Accurately manage and use parts responsibly, and report shortages to the Overhaul & Repairs Manager.
- Uphold high standards of site cleanliness and presentation.
- Assist the Overhaul & Repair Manager in supervising, training, and mentoring semi-skilled labourers, apprentices, and new team members.
- Adhere to all health, safety, and environmental regulations and standards at all times.
- Strong engineering background with in-depth knowledge of gas engines and associated systems.
- Solid mechanical engineering expertise.
- Proficient IT skills to document work and support reporting requirements.
- Trustworthy, professional, and dependable.

- Customer-focused with excellent relationship-building skills.
- Well-organized and able to manage workload effectively.
- Proactive and committed to completing tasks efficiently.
- Resilient under pressure with a focus on quality and continuous improvement.
- Time-served Mechanical Engineer or extensive proven experience with engine rebuilds.
- NVQ Level 3 or City and Guilds qualification in Mechanical Engineering, or an apprenticeship-trained engineer.
- Full driving license.
- Willingness to travel extensively and stay overnight when required.
- On-site experience with in-situ repairs and overhauls of reciprocating gas engines e.g. Jenbacher, MWM, Catapiller, MAN, MTU, Duetz, Cummins, Scania, Volvo.
- Competitive hourly rate with overtime paid at 1.5x the basic rate.
- Paid travel time when working remotely.
- 25 days holiday plus 8 Bank Holidays.
