About the client: Our client is a leading contracting company offering professional and high-standard services to the construction industry in British Columbia. They have multiple offices and are adding a Director of Civil Contracting to their Kamloops, BC office. Candidates located in the Kelowna, BC area will also be considered. The new hire will lead the Civil Contracting Department, ensuring successful project delivery and driving profitability, productivity, and client satisfaction. The Director will oversee strategic planning, operational management, and team leadership to achieve growth and excellence. - Participate in the development of the company’s strategic direction and planning process; provide leadership for the implementation of assigned strategic initiatives.
- Provide day to day direction, guidance, and counsel for the Light Civil Construction Department Managers in the accomplishment of their strategic and operational goals and objectives.
- Ensure the Construction Manager is conducting monthly job cost/progress meetings with each Project Manager to ensure results are being achieved or remedial actions are developed.
- Review all Project Contracts / scope of work / specifications / schedule after award to company and identify a construction strategy for each project.
- Participate in business development meetings and presentations as requested to provide technical input and construction methodology explanations to reinforce company’s capabilities and experience for prospective clients.
- Direct the hiring, termination, performance review process for Light Civil Construction Department Managers and all direct reports to Manager positions.
- Support and develop the competencies and skills of direct reports (Project Managers, Projects Coordinators, Estimators, Superintendents) and ensure that a succession plan is in place.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
- 5-10+ years of senior management experience with certifications like PMP or GSC.
- Proven leadership in civil contracting and project execution.
- Strong focus on technology, collaboration, and team development.
- $145,000-$165,000 annual base salary (negotiable)
- 20% Short-term Incentive Plan and 10% Long-term Incentive Plan
- 4 weeks of paid time off
- $250 annual Health Spending Account
- Vehicle allowance is $1,700/month
