Estimating Coordinator Company Introduction: KAPP Infrastructure is a Canadian General Heavy Civil Contractor with 40 years of experience in infrastructure construction projects. We deliver marquee projects in key markets including water distribution, hydro, underground works, large bridge structures, and other major civil works. Work in these markets is delivered in all geographies throughout Ontario and should be thought to include not only traditional project delivery, but all alternative modes such as DB, CMCG and EPCM. We are conveniently located in Vaughan close to the 407 and 427 directly off Highway 50. The Role: The Estimating Coordinator will be responsible supporting and assisting the Junior and Lead/Senior estimator in calculating the cost of labor or materials that is required for construction or supporting the execution of project plans by working collaboratively with consultants, estimators, schedulers, and the construction team. Here is what you will focus on:
- Work with KAPP personnel on sourcing upcoming bids and tenders.
- Review bid opportunities and present potential opportunities and upcoming tenders in estimating meeting .
- Identify and sort tenders according to municipality and locations.
- Review scope of projects by making notes of tender and/or project information and requirements.
- Work directly with Estimators on tendering stage which involves creating digital folders and organizing documents.
- Update estimating calendars for all upcoming tenders.
- Register for tender on appropriate website and/or communicate with owner/consultants.
- Upload tender documents to cloud and prepare RFQ’s to be sent to relevant subcontractors and suppliers.
- Request bonds and insurance requirements.
- Create excel files of tender forms.
- Assist Estimator with quantity take-offs.
- Communicate questions and/or RFI’s to owner /consultants.
- Follow up with suppliers and subcontractors re-prices, quotes and updated tender documents.
- Check and prepare tender packages for submission.
- Input quotes from various suppliers and subcontractors into the estimating software.
- Assist in inputting tender unit rates and price during closing.
- Participates in KAPP continuous improvement projects.
- Participate in company and project safety programs and initiatives, and monitor/ensure compliance for safety requirements.

- Performs other duties as required.
- Completion of a Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Engineering, Construction Science, Construction Management, or in another related discipline.
- The ability to be detail-oriented in order to successfully review information and complete projects.
- Good verbal and oral communication and interpersonal skills, as an Estimating Coordinator is required to possess excellent customer service skills and also liaise efficiently with clients, contractors, and management.
- Adequate familiarity and proficiency with computer applications and electronic equipment that are used in construction, such as circuit boards, hardware, and software.
- Basic knowledge of building and construction.
- Proven work experience in a construction or engineering industry would be an asset.
- Well-developed organizational and self-management skills, which enables a junior estimator to maintain his or her composure in order to work effectively under pressure and also meet up with tight deadlines.
