Principal Engineer

Responsibilities:

1. Design and implement cross platform endpoint security solutions in response to emerging threats.
2. Develop, enhance, and maintain Forcepoint endpoint security products.
3. Assist and troubleshoot product related issues escalated by the product support team.
4. Perform additional duties and projects as required to achieve organizational goals.
5. Act as a leader and mentor for engineering staff and work with team management to implement career development through engineering assignments.
6. Work closely with a globally distributed group of stakeholders and remote development teams to ensure that all endpoint consumers get high quality components on schedule.
7. Provide guidance on software design, low level implementation, and diagnostic reverse engineering.
8. Implement security software to a high quality and be a champion for architectural integrity.

Skills and Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
2. 10+ years of experience with C/C++ on OS X, Linux and/or Windows.
3. Good knowledge of OS internals and device driver fundamentals.
4. Experience of leading development projects and the mentoring of junior developers.
5. Strong troubleshooting skills, good coding and source management practices.
6. Excellent debugging skills. Reverse engineering techniques, debugging of kernel space code and system extensions.
7. Strong understanding of operating system fundamentals such as file systems, network protocol stacks, process management, interrupt handling, and memory management.
8. Understanding or experience with certificate management, code signing, secure communications, encryption, trusted boot, or related topics.
9. Understanding of backend application models and RESTful APIs.
10. Good understanding of system architecture.

1. Experience of leading development teams from a technical viewpoint.
2. Ability to influence both the internal and external teams.
3. Self-motivated to research new skills and technologies.
4. Desire to develop talent and mentor junior engineers.
5. Experience working in a cross functional organization with distributed teams.
6. Strong communication (written and oral) and teamwork ethic within a diverse team environment.

Preferred Skills:

1. Knowledge of endpoint, network and data security highly desired.
2. Experience developing and debugging kernel level code, system extensions and/or device drivers.
3. Prior experience developing security products.
4. Deep understanding of secure coding techniques, integrity measurement, and tamper detection.
5. Good understanding of test frameworks.
6. Direct experience with SCRUM and Agile methods.
7. Exposure to virtualization and containerization.
8. Knowledge of design patterns.
9. Solid understanding of build systems and continuous integration.
10. Strong personal commitment to quality and repeatable processes.
